Not Safe For Work

Unionize. It is not your responsibility to sacrifice for your job to stay afloat. Discuss your salary with your coworkers. Call out the bullshit of managers, HR, and owners. Your free time is your time. Look for legal representation if you feel that you are illegally exploited/abused. If a coworker is being exploited/abused, say something. Your boss isn't your friend, you are merely the help. Don't let your employers dictate your salary. Your time is what you alone dictate what it's worth. You don't have to excuse, nor explain, your unavailability on your day off. If something you feel important comes up, your job should fall to the back burner. Sure, employers may not be able to legally whip you or kill you, but by “firing” you, the unspoken threat is to take away your housing, food, and life saving medical care, so do what you’re told or else. I’m looking forward to the boomer generation passing.

I love my parents and many other boomers, but I feel like I am 10X more productive than they ever were from a capitalistic standpoint. Yet they have 25X my wealth. Boomers are also stubborn as hell about very serious issues like income inequality and global warming, and they are responsible for a 30 trillion dollar deficit in the US. Management, how out of touch are you?

The branch of the company I work for had the best quarter we've ever had. For some small context, we are mechanics for a very specialized field and we work in very dirty environments and deal with lots of grease. We got an email today asking “what's your jacket size?” With basically no context. Apparently, management decided to buy us all jackets. In mid May. In a color that will be ruined within a week if any of us actually wore it to work. I watch our sales numbers. I know exactly how big of a quarter this was for the mechanics, especially after covid. We are also a vendor for this retailer, so we get a discount. This feels like a slap in the face. I'm so done with this company… (I tried posting a link to the jacket in question.
