I want to protest Roe v Wade being overturned. I want to do this by encouraging a strike at the small company I'm working for. The main argument I'm facing is that my small business employer has nothing to do with it. I'd be hurting my place of employment and they have no power over SCOTUS anyways. So why would we hurt our nice owner?
Stfu and get back to work
Am I laid off?
Those are some of the responses I received to my post. My original post is basically just asking for people to remember and support the many individuals that literally CAN NOT AFFORD to strike because they live paycheck to paycheck. I was told to access strike funds. Well guess what not everyone has access to strike funds. I am fully in support of striking with men and women against the recent Supreme Court decision. But in this sub so many of you claim to care about each other and the cause but when it comes to the people in circumstances where they literally can't afford to strike you just tell them to organize and turn to their unions. I'm living in a fucking motel, I'm a commercial diver, I'm installing 300+ pound propellers on yachts in south Florida, I have no fucking union, stop telling me to turn to a…
The land of the free is clearly not free at all. Republican supporters may not realize it, but they are on the same sinking ship as everyone else. So, in addition to the strikes, I have another proposal. I'm going to do it, and I urge you to join me in refusing to celebrate the Fourth of July. It means no BBQs with friends, no buying flag-themed clothes or decorations, no fireworks, and no going to see fireworks at all. This will be a silent strike as well as a financial disaster for corporations that profit from Fourth of July sales. Return anything you bought to celebrate the Fourth of July. Don't buy anything if you haven't already. I used to dislike Americans, but it turns out that it is the people who run the country who irritate me, not the regular people. These days, I wish I could leave,…
This was almost a year ago now – I was working in a small Independent school's tech department, and I applied for a position in the tech dept of a bigger, more prestigious independent school. Standard phone interview with a head of tech department and then invited for an in person interview which was with all members of the department and some others. Took a couple hours but the team seemed like they worked together great and I hoped to join. Was told I would hear back after a few more folks interviewed. A couple days later I received a call letting me know that I was their top choice and they were offering me the position. After receiving their fair, but unimpressive, salary and benefits (one omission being any kind of guaranteed tuition remission for my child) offer, I requested they match my current sick/pto amounts (which would have…
It's important for women to maintain their independence financially. Conservatives would live nothing more than women out of the workforce and barefoot in the kitchen pregnant. I think there is a more meaningful/manageable way to stop participating in capitalist grind. Go to work, pocket your money. Put it in your mattres, get a safe, bury it in the backyard. Just get as much of it out of circulationas you can. Buy your food and needed items. Buy used everything else. That's where it hurts them.
