I’m a Canadian for some context so this is in relation to Service Canada/EI. My boss told me they were no longer able to schedule me due to budget concerns and so I applied for EI and requested my ROE. When I requested my ROE my boss stated they would only be able to submit it if I resigned and tried to bully me into quitting for days. At the end of this despite me refusing to quit, they told me they were submitting it that I quit anyway and Service Canada can fight them. I reported that to Service Canada and requested my ROE through them. My employer, however, submitted my ROE a month into my request with the proper code on it instead of lying that I quit like they threatened. I’m sure it will all work out, but I’m livid that it’s been over a month and…
My employer has been struggling with staff retention due to poor management, inadequate pay, and several other issues. My department manager quit suddenly and was ushered away without us ever knowing why, but we knew it wasn’t good and they were hiding something. My department just hired a new manager and they are in the process of training, our interim boss (let’s call her Carol) had a department meeting to welcome the new manager. In the meeting Carol asked my team what they would like to see in a manager. My team proceeded to answer the question. Halfway through our answers, Carol is beginning to get very upset. She is obviously crying and ends up storming out of the meeting. My coworker, and new manager looked around the room dumbfounded and stunned. The following day we had a mandatory meeting to discuss Carol’s outburst. Carol’s supervisor attended this meeting. Carol’s…
Hi I'm new to Massachusetts so I don't know the labor laws too well. My manager sends people home when it's “dead” or not busy. She gives zero notice and will not ask if you want to leave, she will just tell you to go. Do I have any legal recourse? Is she breaking any laws by doing this?
Burner Account: Question about Unions
I have zero union experience, and I'm in a field where unions are becoming much more prevalent (USA, higher education). Here is my question: We approved a union recently (April). The administration had approved 6% raises earlier this year for after July 1. They now say that anything they approved earlier this year is not happening: Raises, promotions, tenure. They say it's “because of the union” because they can't change anything related to labor now that the union has been approved. I'm not confused about this part because my review of the law indicates that they're wrong, so it'll get worked out. Here's what I'm confused about: Why in the world would management go hard on something like that because I see that either they are (a.) demonstrating that, yeah — you were right. We're assholes and you were right to vote for a union, (b.) we don't like what…
Why do I need a cover letter?
I refuse.
New to the group! I love it here
Hey guys, I'm new to the group, for the last couple of months my job has been super stressful. I work in Childcare, at a daycare for 3 years. And lately I've been wanting to quit. Well, as of May 9th, 2022 I got a phone call that i was terminated from my job Crazy thing is, she didn't even have a reason AND it was with no warning. I got a phone call, it was a pretty quick conversation and that was it. Should I sue them, or try to collect unemployment. In my eyes that's wrongful termination She was like, there's no specific reason, it's just over time, the different write ups, and things adding up. She never even gave me a SPECIFIC REASON. Example: you broke company policy, or, you were caught stealing, mishandling of a child, using drugs on premises, foul language on the job, or,…
How do I report a Company?
The McDonald’s in my home town stops their employees from discussing their wages. Who can I call to report them?
HR or Let it Be
I’ve been working for a small fashion company for about 2yrs + 8mths. In those years and months.. I’ve tried telling my manager to buy a new mop & broom. (Our broom is literally so old, all the bristles are falling off & and to top it off the handle is falling apart and is being held by brown tape.) Only for him to dismiss it by saying “looks good to me”. I don’t see the issue of him buying new cleaning supplies since the company pays for them… is he trying to save money for the company?? I can’t really go back and fourth with him because he starts bitching… should I let hr know???
