Per title I manage a team at one of the big 4 banks, the pay and benefits are amazing but the work is hollow. This wasn't a problem until i reached my current role where as a manager i am obligated to care so much more and work so long in such a bullshit job. I'm in meetings and scrums all day about what needs to be done instead of just hiring more people to do the actual work. This whole situation was exacerbated by the birth of my daughter, as soon as i held her in my arms i knew what i did was not important. That being said, as i was trying to be a good leader i delayed my paternity leave and took only two weeks off before coming back to a hellish tax season, one of my co-workers pukes daily from the stress and other teams…
Update on being fired for being trans
I’m 22 MTF First off I was off the day of the meeting The co worker who told me has been fired now but he was causing a lot of drama for a lot of people so I guess it is justified but his story was confirmed by half the team, the part of the team that was on my side about the trans meeting So today I came in, they told me once I clock into go in the office and both the main managers (the ones who supposedly said they wanted me gone) asked what the soon to be x co worker had said, I only told them what they already knew and they fired him. They had a talk about my trans ness and I explained it’s not a choice and tried to explain all I could and they said they understand that’s fine and to just…
Read this: we need to be the change.
I’m so tired of being treated poorly
I had faith in my boss to make an effort to improve things, but at this point I've learned that she tries to be on everyone's side and therefore nothing ever actually gets fixed. Today I'm pissed because it is the second day in a row that someone from work has been rude to me for no reason. We have two sides of our facility, each side performs different services for clients. Clients frequently call the wrong side and usually we can just let reception know and they can pick it up. But my side has only one receptionist on shift, the other side has 3-5. I do not have as much to do, but I'm still usually running around like a maniac because I often have more then one person should have to do. Yesterday my coworker was sitting up at the desk while I went to pee. They…
I feel let down
My job has this rule where you have to be in your current role for 12 months before transitioning to a new role. This is a “rule” I have successfully bypassed before in moving to other roles to get to where I am today. A new role opened recently that I am 100% qualified for and have already met with the hiring manager and confirmed I have the skills needed. Today rolls around and I get a interview invite for the the new role after applying a day ago. This hyped me up as this position would be a massive $$ increase for me be a huge catapault for my career. In comes the out of the blue an invite from my manager to talk about my career path over zoom. During the meeting I was basically told I'm SOL and I can't do anything about it because I'm a…
For background I work for a federal institution in Arizona as an ambassador of sorts. We have this specific week-long event every year in which we work from 8am to anywhere from 8pm-12am for 7 days in a row, overtime included. Last year I made close to 1000 dollars in that week alone, it’s filled with a lot of team bonding activities and presentations, it honestly doesn’t feel like work half the time. I was just informed that for some of our team bonding exercises we are being told to clock out. These exercises are mandatory for us to attend as we signed a contract stating we would be there for certain periods of time on specific days several months ago. Is there any legal clause I can introduce to defend me and my coworkers? I stated that i’m either clocking in or not attending but my coworkers simply aren’t…
f*** polos
I was hired at a panera bread and only worked there for two days before I quit. In their dress code you are required to wear a polo shirt, but can only be from a select few colors and certain style khaki pants or similar. I have never worn a god damn polo in my entire life. To me they are the symbol of white privilege, snooty suburban golfer dudes whose parents paid for everything type of clothing. Anyways I felt super cringe having to spend money I didn't have on something I would never ever actually wear myself. This is why I think companies that enforce a specific uniform policy should provide you with the articles of clothing they require. I know some companies do this, but this should be mandatory for any company that has such policies. It's super discriminating particularly for homeless people or people who can't…
In Minnesota, are there any laws that say an employer cannot share the truthful reason why an employee was fired? I understand employers may want to avoid slander, etc. But if they gave the employee a cause … are they lawfully allowed to share this with other employees? There was a shocking firing in my workplace. Frankly maybe illegal. Higher ups said they cannot state specifics because of employment law, but I don't trust their word. I just want to know if they are bluffing.
Workers need to FLIP THE SCRIPT!
Right now businesses see workers as an EXPENSE to make profits! Need to be other way around. The things that our labor and the earth provide are OUR THINGS! Not for a few schemers to grab what they can. All those houses out there, all those facilities, WE BUILT THEM! We need to take back the land that BELONGS TO ALL OF US! This whole thing of police protecting the private property of rich people never worked for us. This land is meant to provide for us and we are meant to be good stewards of the land. We gotta take the human economic supply chain and claim it’s rightful ownership. The difficult part is dealing with the armed police. Tell you what though, the real secret is that we already make what we need to survive. There is enough food growing out of the ground, enough energy supplying the…
But, I can't find another. After searching for months, I can't find another. I have 7 years of experience in my field, but no luck.
