I would like to share a little story with you from a long time ago that I think (hope) many of you will enjoy. —————————– I had a batch job one time. It took 10 minutes to run. Hit the button, wait 10 minutes, get results. It was a 3rd party vendor, hosted black box kind of thing. I had no control over this system other than making sure the inputs were right and pressing the run button. Boss comes to me one time while I'm still working on the inputs and demands the output. I say it's going to take me another few minutes to vet the inputs and 10 more to run it. “I want it on my desk in five minutes.” I tried to explain that this is not humanly possible. He wouldn't hear it. “Five minutes. On…
…And getting laughed at by my colleagues and professor for making the comparison. I'm sure they're not laughing now what with all the inflation, the state of the housing market, and the vast sense of hopelessness a majority of Americans feel.
Unlimited PTO? That’s a scam.
One of my jobs benefits was that they offered unlimited PTO. Once I first started I thought “oh wow that’s going to be great I won’t have to worry about needed time off when I’m sick or need a break from work, this place must really care about their employees.” Well, that was a lie. I needed time off especially since I hadn’t taken any of this year yet and my only request was denied. I couldn’t quit because I needed the money, but I didn’t know what…

Meaning if your number is above 10, you're getting no lead cause more than 10 calls is a miracle. Recently the group leader called a meeting demanding we increase workload, he wanted more captures and us to close more clients. Which is not happening and won't happen with the inflation and market as is. I told him, with proof, we're in a near recession and inflation has caused the market…
