A starbucks (inside a randalls) down the street just had half their baristas and their manager walk out. Now me and my crew plotting on which day we are gonna do the same thing We are thinking may 26th. Im so excited!
(UK based) Apologies if it’s not appropriate to post here, I’m just so angry and this is the only place I could think of to rant. I get disability pay for mental health reasons. The Department for Work and Pensions themselves decided I am not well enough to work. I moved in with my boyfriend recently and my Universal Credit claim became a joint claim with him. Since he earns over the threshold, they’ve cut me out of my own disability pay. I’m infuriated. I have next to nothing to my name and God forbid something happens to my boyfriend (who is currently paying for everything while I am not well enough to work) I will be homeless. Again. Fuck the system.
I feel like he is mad… Should I make an excuse saying I dont use it and forgot my password? Would this help or just ignore everything?

Was stating how messed up everything was and the team lead said “DID YOU FAKE BEING HAPPY TO GET A JOB AT WALMART?” Yes yes i did, any sane person would know that you have to fluff yourself up. I had financial needs and me lying to your face saying i want to work here was just one of those things. Plz stop acting like its such a good place to be no one wants to be here. Also have some stories from the hospital i was laid off from if this is that type of place.
Scolded for doodling at work
I’m currently employed in a smoke shop in a small part of town. Most of the time, the shop is completely dead. Two hours will go by before a customer crawls through. In downtime, we wipe down glass, sweep, reorganize, mostly busywork. Between that we have not much else to do. Myself and another employee are both art students, I’m pursuing a masters degree so I can teach in the future. Her and I use scraps from orders or receipt paper to doodle, she draws anime girls and I drew a cartoon pig. Our boss came into work, saw our small, low-effort drawings, and scoffed, scolding us because “that’s not what we’re paid to do.” Frankly, if we weren’t doodling, we were playing on our phones or reading something anyway. It’s too quiet and slow here to constantly be working, and there’s no fresh paint to watch dry anyway. Anyway.…
I started a job 3 months ago that I haven’t liked at all. They promised me the Earth like remote working, which never transpired. I’m needing to do expensive daily commute. My boss just…sucks. He’s passive aggressive, micromanaging and non empathetic. The job is ridiculously convoluted and boring and needlessly complicated. I had to beg to be allowed to go for a simple blood test. I wasn’t allowed to go to appointments for my youngest child who is disabled even after giving 2 weeks notice. But the woman I work under can disappear several times a week, no questions asked. My uncle died suddenly and they begrudgingly gave me the day off for the funeral but insisted I fly back for work the next day so had to come back in the small hours. Two weeks ago my father had a heart attack and fell down the stairs. He caught…
I work for a rather large organization who does an annual survey on employee engagement to gather feedback about supervisors, management, the organization and policies. The survey is allegedly anonymous, yet somehow they (HR and leadership) seem to know who has and hasn’t completed the survey. The whole thing is absurd and nothing ever comes from the results. At best managers spend significant time trying to identify who writes what comments and then blaming that individual for their negativity. At worse teams are labeled complainers who need a culture change. Today, our state level leadership told us in a meeting told us that they would really appreciate us completing the survey. As a “incentive,” leadership told us that if 100% of employees filled out the survey, they would throw each one of our offices a pizza party and we would all login to a conference call and talk about how…
