Childhood Dream to Help People.

TL;DR I wonder how many people would send me a dollar if enough do I'll start a business to employ as many as I can to livable and then some wages. Hey everyone, I've been a part of this community for a while because I enjoy reading about other people sticking it to the boss and then bettering their life afterward. Well I would like to be the second part of that equation. So, when I was a kid I was always curious what would happen if I sent everyone in the world a letter to send me a dollar how many dollars would I get? 5? 10? 1,000? 1,000,000? It was always just a day dream of mine. Something i would think about in the car watching all the other people around me. Now with the internet and things like venmo or cashapp I might actually be able to…

Any managers?

Serious question, I know we won’t be very well received here…any fellow managers lurking? I’m curious how some of these posts are viewed from a different perspective.

Ending work

Not sure whether to post this query here but I’m currently furious and need advice on the legal side of how Employment Dismissal occurs and what’s the standard procedure. I currently live in Australia Victoria, and have started to work in a well-known cafe near me starting at 21-December 2021 (around that time I believe). This job was the first job I’ve ever gotten and I got it at a time when I finished high school. I believe I was a competent worker who worked a lot, learned a lot and made as few mistakes as I could (mistakes such as giving the wrong coffee or food to the wrong customer). The way we communicate with each other is through a WhatsApp group chat where the shifts for people are uploaded for the following week. I noticed 2 weeks ago that I wasn’t given any shifts for the following week…

What I witnessed at the Kentucky Oaks: the American Caste

I went to the Kentucky Oaks May 2022 for a friend's bachelor party. The following is what I will write as The American Caste System, as I witnessed it. The Oaks is the day before the Kentucky Derby, and much cheaper. Disclaimers: COVID has affected the Oaks and the Derby, so food and alcohol were all inclusive. Betting/wagering/extraneous purchases aren't taken into consideration. pricing has been approximated/rounded to account for time of purchase and vendor, etc. May 2022. Churchill Downs racetrack, Louisville KY. An almost 150 year tradition. My group originally was going to purchase $50-65 General Admission tickets around December 2021. By February we were informed of the COVID changes and agreed to purchase a block of Uncovered Bleacher seats with the all inclusive for $225. It was an amazing experience and an awesome time with friends. I imbibed many tasty alcoholic drinks and some Garlic Noodles that were probably…

End of the day

Is this just the revolution of the workers who are being paid diddly squat vs the CEO's who are making bank? I feel like that's the big thing that needs to change, we have managers who make far more than they should vs the average workers who make next to nothing. CA.. where I happen to live, a STARTER home is over a million dollars, I mean what the hell, starter 2 bedroom home, nothing much in it, not a great location (near a high school) and it's over a million dollars (I make what I THINK is a decent salary, and it's still like 10 times my salary)

Angry about how society revolves around money?

Who else just sits back and gets super angry that our lives and time revolves around money…something that’s kinda made up. Like we waste our lives away for this because it’s what we know and how society is framed. Idk I feel like we’re all just wasting away and we’ll never get the chance to enjoy existing..

Row v Wade: the Department of Infants, Children, and Kids is now accepting applications.

Even those drafted into the military get paid for their time. If a State is literally “ordering” you to labor, then the Federal minimum wage is $7.25 an hour. The average pregnancy lasts for 280 days, so put 6,720 hours of labor on your timesheet with the Department of Infants, Children, and Kids. The rate for the first 2,080 hours is $7.25. The rate for the last 4,640 hours is $10.875, for overtime. Furthermore, because you're a full-time employee, you're entitled to group health benefits, FMLA, and COBRA. Lets run the numbers… $15,080 for the first 2,080 hours. $50,460 for the last 4,640 hours. $30,000 for prenatal and delivery services. $4,000 of paid maternity leave. $15,460 of unemployment insurance / COBRA benefits. $15,000 WIC benefits till age 18. ———————– Total earnings: $130,000. Even if they only give you 73 cents on the dollar, that's still $94,900 that they should be…
