My work wants me to do a bunch of e learning modules, roughly 20 plus testing afterwards each module ranges from 20 – 30 min. Need 80% to pass on test. I asked when I can sit down at work to do this training. My manager told me it's not training and is to be done at home for free. In My province it is illegal to give unpaid training. I consider this training. My work does not consider it training. Thoughts and opinions please.
We all got percent raises (not enough to keep up with inflation of course) and then they raised our health insurance so much that the raise basically doesn’t exist.
So I finally did it; I (Masc 35) quit my corporate BS job as an IT Project Manager and became a house Spouse. You can see my original post here. But in short, I was tired of working and making other people work to grow corporate profits. My partner received an offer to be a full-time farm hand, so I quit my BS job and became the happily unemployed primary care-taker of our 5yo. Here are some reflections and a few tips: IT'S GREAT!!! – My stress has gone way down. I have time to think, to forage for edibles in local parks, to write, and to just exist. I really enjoy the housework, and I know that this is not the same experience for all care-takers. But it has really become much more enjoyable doing these tasks since I'm not cramming my share in in the last couple hours…
Play by the rules!
I work as a bank teller. I’m a step parent to a 4 and 6 year old and have a lot of responsibility to juggle. I told my boss I need a mental health day for weeks ago. I planned my life to make sure it works around this job. I made sure to make it clear in the interview that I couldn’t do that unless I had a consistent schedule and reliably got out on time. I had to talk to HR 3 months in because I was getting my schedule 1 day before the week started and getting scheduled 10-7 instead of 8-5:45 like I was promised. That’s created a nightmare schedule where my day with the kids starts at 5:30 am, I have random time before work where I can’t commute home in time, and I’m rushing to get home to take care of my home life…
Good Morning, All I hope that today finds you and your loved ones as safe and healthy as possible. I apologize for the length but as I'm hoping for advice I thought it would be best to give as much detail as possible. Grab some cocoa and if you need a bathroom break, have at it. I'm on mobile if that matters. The Issue: It's yearly evaluation time and HR botched sending out the results of our evaluation by sending me a manager in my department's instead of mine. Our last names follow one another in the alphabet with the same first initial – this M. Adams and M. Addams. I found out todaythat not only does he make considerably more than I do having done less work, but he has claimed 4 of MY projects as his own and received a 10k bonus for it. Some Background: We work…
bait and switch job position
I applied for a role with a new company, few days later I get a call back stating that they are impressed and want to proceed. This is where the fuckery happens as they tell me they think I'll be a better fit for a lower role and suggest that I'll be going for the position of a call center employee (currently I'm a IT administrator) They disguise it as a “specialist” mad then tell me that the pay is good (a major paycut even if I get the cap amount) Tell them no and that it was a insult of an offer and hang up on them. A few days later they apparently took it as a confirmation of me accepting the chance to interview for the new role. Ended up accepting the interview to tell them off and waist their time. Felt that this was a decent place…
