managers taking tips
My manager at my new job takes all our tips and pools them and pays them out as an “hourly” wage and also uses them to pay for discrepancies and any missing or damaged product. I'm sure they're skimming too.
TL;DR: I have ADHD/ASD and am not employed. Realize life is more manageable without work. Wish I didn't have to find new work Full text: I am a Neurodiverse (ADHD/ASD) individual. I have struggled my entire adult life with employment. I have a hard time with focus in general, and I have a hard time handling overstimulation (bright lights, loud noises/sounds from multiple sources, people touching me casually or accidentally.) I am 34, I graduated college at 23. 11 years in the workforce fulltime and I have held 14 different jobs. I was recently “bought out” of my employment, so I am not working right now. During therapy today I realized that without work to worry about, I have fewer issues during my normal day. my stress is significantly lower, I don't have to worry about going into an unpleasant environment or being able to focus on one task for…
You can bitch and moan about where you’re at in life right now. You can refuse promotions, complain that you don’t get paid enough, scream that you have to work full time, rant about how the recent abortion news goes right in light with being overworked and how the government screws us in both of those ways, but… Until you take responsibility for your life, accept that promotion, work towards a higher wage, get an education that isn’t based in some meaningless degree, work in a trade, and start making sound financial decisions (not buying the newest game console or tv you want), YOU will always be shit on by your employers. By the government. By society. And you will always believe that you are a victim, and you will NEVER succeed and become what you had the potential to become. Don’t be lazy. Respect those around you and have…
As a non-US citizen I'm just wondering. Here (Italy) the minimum salary is 6 € hour + taxes, which is around 10 € hour. So a minimum wage of 15 dollars plus taxes would be more than we have in italy (which btw is not enough to be fair, obviously), but 15 dollars tax included is really… Just slightly more than we get? Given how 1 dollar = 0,94 euros. If that's the case, the fact that the minimum salary is even lower than that in most of the US is really bloody disgusting Thank you for any replies
“Why should they earn the same as …”
I just heard someone use this argument again and I chewed him out for it. “Why should a fast food worker earn the same as a doctor?” First of all nobody made that point. If raising the minimum wage to a living wage means paying them like a doctor, maybe doctors are also underpaid? Secondly, I earn a lot more than minimum wage. If the cleaning lady at the company I work at would earn the same as me, would I be upset? Hell no! Am I getting less money… no! Am I affected by this in any way… no! She puts in the same hours as I do, she just does different work. I code on a computer all day, she cleans the rooms. I studied for my job, but that is just because I would get bored cleaning rooms. It will however affect society. Less poor people means…
Stop saying you are understaffed…
…and start saying you understaff. Sick and tired of businesses acting like understaffing is a random act of God when it's quite literally their choice.
