If an employment post doesn’t post a salary then don’t even entertain that post. Salary will basically define how you live and enjoy your life outside work hours. If they want to trap you into applying this way then it’s definitely a red flag. Just save yourself the headache,
Just started job hunting here and frustrated by the fact that so far all the job adverts don't have a salary listed. As I'm new to the country I was hoping to get an idea of the kind of wage I could expect from the roles I'm roles interested in, so I feel a bit out of my depth now! It's much less common in the UK (where I've moved from) and is generally seen as bad recruitment practice. They'll always at least be a salary range or “salary starts at XX”. Interested to hear people's thoughts and any advice on how to navigate the U.S job market – thanks!
Last summer I worked on an ice cream truck, got to sit around drive around wherever I thought sales would be good. Handing out ice cream everyday all summer long making people happy was great. The pay was 15 an hour but my boss always increased it once I hit a certain amount of sales. And for every $100+ sales I got another increase. Days where I sold under $300 was $15 $400 16 and the few days I reached $500 $17 an hour. Tips were amazing, most customers tipped $1-$3. Parties they tipped $20. I was bringing home $115-$180 in cash a day for 6.5-8 hours of work. Couple times I made $200ish day before labor day I made $265. Couple months ago I started at Dairy Queen. $14 an hour no free snacks like the smaller business of an ice cream truck. I can work 25-30 hours and…
They want to waste everyone's time? I've got time to spare. That job you're posting for a mid-level marketing coordinator paying $14 an hour? Sure, I'll apply! I'll set up an interview too. Will I show up to the interview? Well, no, but not because I don't want to, but because I don't exist. Sorry about that! What's that? You want someone to volunteer to do your logo and art for your business? You're paying in exposure? Boy, I would love to help! I'm on it right now, and 2 weeks later when you're wondering where those proofs are I said I was working on? Oh they're almost done, I'll send them to you by Friday, I promise!
