How do you feel about shoplifting? I want to emphasize that I mean shoplifting from giant corporate owned retail establishments; Wal-Mart, Target, National Grocery Chains, etc. Never from; Mom & Pop, small privately owned chains, etc. Or does shoplifting make a person shitty regardless?
Tulip Farm Workers Strike in WA state.
Remove Withholding
I need someone smarter than me to figure this out but I had a shower thought. What if we all changed the tax withholding on our paychecks so that we stopped sending the government our money? I would be fine with dropping my tax money into a savings account and just pay at tax time if we can choke the government into finally listening to us. We need to cut off the steady stream of money and let them know that we are the ones paying the bills and that they work for us. Not sure if this is plausible but its something to think about? An organized tax strike would wake up a few people I think.
Work Issues and mental health
I'm looking for some advice. Currently at work now and having a very hard time focusing, and I'm constantly debating if I want to keep my job. A quick background: I work full-time in an office where we wear a lot of hats. I've been here over 2 years. This year has been really unfortunate health-wise (combo of Covid and allergies) and I recently suffered a full week of burn-out… So now I no longer have sick and personal time. After the burnout, I went to my boss and asked if she could reduce my hours to 6 a day, which was refused. This was very frustrating. Due to the fact that I've been absent for 19 days out of the year so far, I got a final written warning from my boss last week. I've been struggling with some burnout/depression today and requested to leave early, in which my…
Working in a dealership
Working at a car dealership is a pain because of many reasons. The pay plans have been cut heavily and they treat you like the cocaine-fueled 1980s because the industry hasn't grown up and still does all the tricks they used to. All that aside because it is a daily problem is the next one. Customers can and do treat you like crap. Anyway, blah blah blah. Yesterday I had a woman come in very drunk and stumbling while she sipped on her “coffee”. I had to redirect the conversation to her not needing a new car and overstimulate her with as many cars as I could show her to stop her from taking a test drive with me. Management looks down on bad reviews. She showed me how 'someone else ran into her' on her trade-in which looked more like hitting a small object like a pole rather than…
Advice for being a nomad? UK resident
I'm sick of.living a life that is unfulfilling and I'm seriously considering bowing out of the rat race all together. The issue is, I can't drive legally (don't have a licence) I'm in debt by the tune of 6 grand and I've been conditioned to know no other life. So I'm seeking advice, how the fuck do I become a successful nomad and still support myself and my partner?
I got hired with company in August 2020. It’s a large medical facility. The worst company I have ever worked for. I went on medical leave in September 2021. I was on disability through the state not through the company. On March 15, 2022 I decided to resign as the idea of going back gave me to much anxiety. Today I received a bill from them for missed deductions from when I was out. They want me to pay $126 by April 2. I’ve never heard of this, do I have to pay? I live in California. Thanks!
The concept of a “boss.”
Is it just me, was the concept of having a “boss” just kind of weird? I mean, we have one person who's gets to decide whether or not you have a job based on only their opinion of you. A person, whose brain is not bigger or more powerful than yours gets to have a large say as to whether or not you have enough to survive. And it's amazing how many people abuse that power, It's almost as if the position of a boss is inherently corrupting. Anyway, just a thought.
If one is or wants to be in HR but agrees with the opinions in r/antiwork & wants to do good for the employees, how do they navigate it especially with the “HR is for the company, not for the employees” narrative?
