Long time lurker, first time poster. It’s taken me a long time to work up the courage to share my story here. My previous job was at the call center for a pretty prominent phone accessories manufacturer. The role in itself wasn’t terrible to begin with, and the company (on paper) really seemed to care about its employees, especially those with mental health struggles. I am prone to panic attacks, and I thought I’d hit the jackpot when I landed my role here. As the summer months approached, we found ourselves frequently and grossly understaffed, leading to long hold times and verbal abuse from customers. In the fall, this became even more amplified, as our systems for processing returns, viewing order details, etc. became broken. For context: the company was still using a very outdated CRM (Sugar), and every time IT attempted to make changes to the software, it would…
Banning abortion now? Next going will be labor protections, and all the liberties we have will only follow. Everyone here knows what the answer is—but if no one commits? It's over.
I remember how my first job had us watchdogg'd by a software called JobCTRL. It would pop up with a big warning on the screen every time an employee was afk (without any mouse activity) for 10 minutes. After I got my 1st warning from my boss regarding this (“where have you been?” – I was on the shitter lmao), I invested in a 12 buck 'mouse jiggler' which is just a USB that if you plug it into the laptop, mimics a real mouse constantly albeit naturally moving. It enabled me to take way more breaks without any of the BS. Nowadays I have a new job but use it all the time, truly one of the best ways to counter all the BS by these employers.

Instead of paltry raises, just run this.
We had a corporate technology operations webinar with executive management today. It was a flagrant farce. Bullshit sandwiched between toxic positivity about “finding our purpose” and making our purpose align with the company's purpose. Followed directly after by discussion of how profitable they are .. knowing full well they turned down promotions for the third year in a row and didn't give annual raises that kept up with inflation and aren't backfilling severely understaffed teams. They have to know we're in the middle of a labor revolution right? People are quitting because of this. They aren't drinking the koolaid anymore. They're tired of the bullshit. I am generally pretty comfortable at my job. I am not at my limit yet. I do have some anxiety about buying a house but it hasn't reached a breaking point yet. I'm more angry for my coworkers who are getting paid less than me.…
