Anybody else doing this? Since my last “high paying” job fired me to save more money for themselves,… I would rather work for 2 companies instead and incase one fires me I will still be OK financially.
Boss Asked For A Resignation Letter?
Hey y'all, Long time lurker, first time poster in this sub. I'm in need of some advice. I had a meting with my boss about two weeks ago about needing more work life balance, wanting to go remote, the likes. I expressed if I can't find something at my internally, I would intent to look elsewhere, I said my last day would be around Memorial day but I was still noodling if I wanted to go (it's a decent gig tbh, I'm not unhappy here, rather, content) He said “that's cool keep me posted” He's been pretty cool about everything leading up to this, he's been approachable, understanding when life events came up, I actually really do like him as a boss. He called me into his office on Monday to let me know they found my replacement earlier than intended and asked if it was cool with Friday being…
Bullying and Harassment in the Workplace
I’m not sure if this is the appropriate place to post this but I just wanted to write a PSA about toxic work environments. Currently, I am working for a large national organization that placed me and my other colleague in a local office with a separate entity to provide support to their programs. The amount of unprofessionalism, bullying, and harassment we both endured in this office was more intense than anything I have experienced, and being an attractive hard working woman, best believe I’ve experienced this shit before. I watched 4 other people go through the same abuse in 2 months time, it began within the first 2 weeks of hire. Clearly, mean girl mentality doesn't end in grade school. It amazes me how people would not do whatever they can to get along with their coworkers and try to make the work day more tolerable. Instead, these people…
They were hired by Case New Holland well before negotiations started and bussed them in while they were ongoing.
Finally getting to leave my job after these last 2 years feels AMAZING! I work for a major paint company as a sales rep in a big metro city. I’m the only person on my team with a bachelors degree and I’m fluent in Spanish (which is a big plus in this industry). I was placed in a high traffic, high budget location where bonuses are nearly impossible to hit, while newly hired reps get to choose where they go and have learned how to cheat the system. They pick stores with half the budget of mine and coast to easy bonuses and praise from my boss. SN: my boss plays softball and his last 3 hires are his buddies with no paint experience, no additional language, and not even an associates degree! The culture here is very toxic since he lets his friends get away with murder yet calls…
What is “reasonable?”
So I worked for a newspaper that had deadlines, I understood that. I worked there for about 12 years selling advertising space, it took from Tuesday to Thursday night/Friday to put our section of the paper “to bed”, we spent Monday visiting clients. We had to work overtime at times to meet these deadlines but we could take time in lieu, sweet, until we got a new manager who just really didn’t understand our work load. On top of that the paper made most of the admin staff redundant so now we sales reps also had to input our own bookings, it took us till at least 7.30-8 at night, not to mention the night prior to going to publication which was another lengthy evening. I was working a 9 day fortnight (Friday off) and because of the extra hours over those 2 weeks I was working enough hours to…
I work at a manufacturing facility with secure access. Just inside the front door HR posts a list of the employees that have been newly hired as well as those that have recently left. This is available to reference in case someone shows up requesting access and you're not sure if they should be let in or not. Like everywhere else we have had and continue to have employee retention issues. HR has silently made the change of limiting the list of employees who left to the last 2 or 3 weeks, but keeping the list of new hires back to the start of the year. At a glance it makes it look like we've hired twice as many people as we've had leave. For anyone with a brain it makes it look like management is scared to permit reality in, and is a daily reminder of how hard they…
This might be a reach but it’s anti 1% which is antiwork at its finest. This has nothing to do with women getting abortions. This has everything to do with stripping half of us of our right to choose. To cause panic, fear, and rage. The First Lady can still get an abortion. Congresswomen can still have them, the upper class can still have them. Put a bunch of ants in a jar, then shake the shit out of the jar. The ants will tear each other apart in rage. Sound familiar? We live in a country where conservatives hate the liberals, Christians hate Muslims, and whites hate minorities (it’s a generalization for comparison, I don’t assume you’re racist because you’re white). We just went through an abhorrent time filled with poverty, fear, pain, and death. If there ever was a time where we would TRY to look upon each…

People tell me all the time I shouldn’t say we are all wage slaves. Even though most people work their whole lives away for poverty wages. Which is the literal definition of wage slavery.. Seriously how is working 9-5 for decades not a form of slavery? No one is saying we are chains and our bosses own us. But there are definitely similarities. Frederick Douglass said that wage slavery was only slightly less horrific after he was emancipated. Why does this fact of life offend so many people? Maybe I’m just too far left even for antiwork
