in my first 6 or so months of working at my grocery store job (i've been working there for about 7 now) i used to get up to 22-25 hours a week. guess how many hours a week i get now? i'd be lucky if i even get 15. the most amount of hours i get is anywhere from 11-14.50, and i don't understand why. i consider myself a good employee. i have a relatively good attitude most of the time and i always do what i'm asked without any attitude or backtalk, and i honestly also like to think that i've been working harder lately. heck, i know a few people who are surprised i didn't get the service leader position. i used to get a couple 4 hour shifts and most of them being 5.50-6 hour shifts, now, i only get a couple 4 hour shifts and one…
Good morning all, and thanks in advance for reading this. I need advice. I have not contacted a lawyer yet. I work in healthcare management and am in charge of a facility program funded by my state’s Department of Human Services. I was out sick for 10 days starting on 05/30/2022. I came into the office on Monday, May 30th which was Memorial Day. I had originally planned on working Memorial Day and using the paid time off for another day. I arrived at the office, took a rapid Covid swab per our testing policy, and it came back positive. I then left the office and drove home, where I proceeded to complete assessments and enter the progress notes my company’s electronic medical record. I completed 5 assessments and responded to emails that day, all of which are documented. On Tuesday 5/31 I worked from home as well. I completed…

Company doesn’t care about employees
Happening presently. I am currently sitting in the emergency room waiting for my wife to be admitted for emergency gall bladder surgery. They have been able to manage the pain so she is comfortable for now. She called into her employer to let them know she will be missing her shift tonight due to this emergency surgery. They thanked her for letting them know and informed her this will end up being an occurrence on her attendance record. They are taking the steps for disciplinary action per company policy because she will be missing work for emergency surgery… We already are burdened with a high deductible copay health insurance and now they won't make an exception for a matter way out of her control. This is why people don't want to work. This is why medical leave is needed. This is why universal health care is needed. People aren't valued…
Unions Built The Middle Class
I work at a Burger King where on my first day I was given a rulebook and I got to a part where it said they were not required to give us any breaks. My feet get incredibly sore, my legs start to feel like jelly by the end of my shift not helped by the fact I need to bike there and back. It also makes it so I am exhausted by the end of my shift and start working in a clumsier manner and I cannot physically stop myself from feeling like I'm getting dizzy and constant yawning. It also means I can't eat from ~11am to ~7pm considering transportation times as well, so it's a goodbye to my lunch (although this isn't as big of an issue for me). I need this job, otherwise I will not be able to eat and pay rent. Otherwise, the job…
