Boomer acquaintances tell me it is a bad look to jump jobs so soon but why wouldn't I move to another job that pays me more? The pay is the only reason I work. I hate that we are expected to stay at a job for 1+ years before it is “acceptable” to move on. Don't be loyal to your employers, you will only get taken advantage of.

I work in a government services job and got a caller today who wanted our department to reprimand her private non-government utility company because two repairmen parked slightly off-center in her driveway. She proudly told me about how she shouted at them and made it clear that since the workers weren’t white she thought they were inept idiots. Cue surprised pikachu face when they left and didn’t fix her utility issue and she wanted me to call her (again, non-government service, so legit not something my department could even do something about) utility and yell at them some more. Like. Fuck that, ma’am. I don’t understand this instinct for people to demean someone in a service job and then seek backup from someone else who serves the public. And I only ever get calls! I don’t have to deal with people’s shit in person, but it’s just so much to…

We had a meeting today on getting back to the office. I tell the higher up. That going to the office would give a 30% less of my income in gas that I was currently saving. He told to move closer to work or buy a hybrid car. Decided to edit to add more contest. I love in Puerto Rico where the median is the poverty level in America. Most jobs here pay minimum federal wage. We speak both spa is and English and have the highest education level that most states.

hello, just for background im just 18 years old, so i’m very unaware of any legal processes that are needed to report labor violations. My aunts company hires unaware immigrants from the philippines and pays them below the minimum wage, doesn’t pay overtime, makes them work above 16 hours a day on some occasions, etc. for obvious reasons i’d like my reporting to be anonymous, but if i can’t then it doesn’t matter. im just wondering on who to contact to report this labor abuse , thank you all!
