Poor almost minimum pay, AWFUL hours, nice clients but enough nasty ones, gossipy coworkers, poor working conditions, $1 bonus to sign people up to rewards and just around terrible industry. Anyone feel the same? Looting to jump ship. I don’t have mouths to feed and no debt/saving padded so I don’t need to be desperate (like the divorced parents at my work) to work a job that sucks my joy and love life life out of me.
Suspended from work for one week
Some background: I was caught vaping in the men's restroom at work around a week ago, and was given a first and final write-up. I am very much aware of how stupid that was of me. I did not deny it, as I have set a precedent of not lying to the managers at my store. At the same time they informed me that I needed to bring in a doctor's note regarding the average length of time of my restroom breaks (I have medical issues that cause them to be between fifteen and twenty minutes long). I brought in a note the next day. Several days ago, I used the restroom, and afterwards (I was later told by a coworker) a shift lead entered the restroom to see if I had vaped. She indicated to the store manager that she smelled my vape, and at around 2:30pm the assistant…
No hobbies, no life, just sleep and work
It's sad but that's the reality. I live to work. From prepping in the morning, commuting, working then commuting back I get about 3 hours of “free time” I spend eating, showering and getting ready for bed. Thats life. It's depressing
”You gen z have no loyalty…”
I had a job interview today where I was told by the hiring manager that they dislike hiring people my age because ”you gen z have no loyalty to the company, unli his generation.” Seriously? Why would I have loyalty to a company that hasn’t even hired me and is already calling me unloyal? Loyalty is a two way street. If companies expect employees to be loyal, then they must first be loyal to their employees. When employees are considered and treated just as resources, there’s no way anyone with half a brain would be loyal. Oh and the job I’m applying to is a junior web developer. The reason the guy brought up loyalty is I asked for the salary and he then proceeded to say it’s 2400€/month and when I said it was kinda low, I got the loyalty speech. I didn’t say this, but if you pay…
This has worked surprisingly well. I hate when places don't advertise, but sometimes it looks like a decent job, so I call the company and ask to speak to HR to find out about the pay. It's saved me from applying to a few places, and encouraged me to apply for others that I normally wouldn't have.
This might be mutli layered with updates as there is a lot to unpack. In 2016 I stupidly attended a meeting with an organisation my parents are involved in. I've been to a few of these stupid meetings before but at the end of this one a member motioned to appoint me to a leadership position they desperately needed filled and no one was having a bar of it. Essentially I was press ganged into it. It's my fault entirely. Hands in the air I should.habe said fixk to the no. I agreed on two simple and easily solvable conditions. It's for 6 months only and you resolve your legal issues without delay..Everyone nodded their heads and agreed. They didn't even wait 24 hours before dog piling into me with their piss poor attitudes and failings that went back for over a decade. First off the rank was getting some…
I'm looking for jobs but have only ever worked for like one or two companies and have no idea what to look for as actually good.
I have been working since I was a teen I started with cleaning houses and landscaping. When I turned 18 I started working as a janitor. When I was around 22 I decided I needed something different or I was going to lose it. I joined a program that helps youth find a job. I was led to the company I'm with now. I help with operations and do admin work amongst other things. I learned a lot of skills and it was a great place to grow since the company was a start up back then. Since I was 12 I wanted to get my eye brow pierced. I was never a person to take risks. I decided to never get it because what if it affected me getting a job. I got it this year at almost 30. Everyone tells me in nuts and can't go to interviews…
