I’m scheduled to work at 8am today and at 7:25am they called me and said that there aren’t enough spots on the floor for me (I’m a server) and to come in at 1 and work til 10pm. Its 35 minutes before my shift started, I was about to walk out the door too. If I did that to them and called them 35 minutes before my shift and said that I’m not coming in but I can work later, they would write me up as a no call no show since it’s such short notice. But they can do it to me? And I actually had to change my schedule to the mornings because I’m being harassed by one of my coworkers and asking me to work at 1 is when he works.
Shorts at work
I love wearing shorts in the summer. I started working at a small owner operated engineering firm and they let me wear what I want. They treat us well. When I started work, I asked the boss if he cared about shorts, to which he replied, “Huh? Why would I ever care?” I was getting ready for work in the morning and my dad asked if I was wearing short pants to work. I asked why it matters since I work at a desk. He asked incredulously what the dress policy was, to which I replied, “I just need to make the company money, why is it appropriate to play dress up with a grown man?
This reply to my email broke my heart
At work I sent out an email needing an update on something. It wasn't super urgent and I sent it at maybe 9 am. He emailed me back about 3 pm and the first line if the email was “I am sorry for the delay in getting this answer to you. My daughter was in surgery this morning.” What are you going at work? Why are you here? Your child was in surgery and so I assume your family needs you. Take a day. FFS
I've had a string on jobs that i've just constantly quit because of how they treat you. My most recent one was because they expected me to scald my hands on flaming on metal that left me burned as well and i ended up inhaling chemicals that had me in a coughing fit for nearly an hour because they couldn't be bothered to provide masks of all things, all why the entire day i had pictures taken of me and was insulted many times mostly about my appearance. The jobs before that with me quiting were mostly about making me do things that either resulted in an injury or could have if i did them along with having to do things without proper training then getting reprimanded when it wasn't done right. I'm only 20 so i'm not sure if i should just start taking it and deal with all…
Hi! It was suggested that I post this here to see if there’s anything I should do about it. For reference, I am autistic. Am I being too sensitive about an issue at work or was my boss out of line? So I work at a quick service restaurant that is known for its hospitality and smiles. I’m pretty good at fake smiling but sometimes I think I’m smiling and I guess I’m not. My boss was casually mentioning it because were trying to get our survey scores up and it’s something everyone is being told to do. I said to her that I definitely do try but with my autism I might not realize sometimes but I do always speak in a friendly tone because I have practiced my customer service voice enough. Then she said “oh we need to talk about that…” and proceeds to tell me that…
So I've been working in this bar since June or July last year. I was a waiter – food pass, drink pass etc. people liked me and all that. In January this year my manager offered me to put me into a cleaning team to supervise them. He strongly hinted that I'll get a pay rise (he was telling me he'll reward me if I'm doing a good job, asking how much I'm getting paid now etc.). Now this job is more difficult than waiting, so I waited two weeks, three weeks then I asked what's the story with the reward. He said he didn't have time to check, but he'll sort me out and that I shouldn't worry about this. Another month passed, another two and still no pay rise. I kinda just gave up and today I was casually chatting about this with other supervisor. He basically told…
