Punishing the poor for being poor
My hike is due in a couple of months and knowing that they will try to get away with the least that they could pay, I want to prepare upfront to ask for better pay. For context I work for a big 4 company, yet get paid so little that I have to debate between taking my dad to the hospital for his monthly checkup or letting my family starve. It's also demoralising that my batch mates from college, with more or less the same years of experience, are being paid more than double from smaller companies. With the recent shenanigans by the government which lead to price hikes for everyday goods, I can't seem to afford basic and absolutely necessary things. I want to ask for a better raise this time. Downvote if my vibe’s off—I post here because I see so many people with so much frustration and anguish and work—but I’ve been preaching at rutterless friends for years about what I think they should consider for a career: nursing. I won’t gush, but I gain enormous satisfaction from my job. And the monetary compensation isn’t nothin. I’ll reply to your comments if you’re inquisitive about why I think this is a good job for a left-leaning person.

Coworker spilled the tea
Hey! So I put in my two weeks on Wednesday. There were multiple issues I had but mainly my boss wouldn’t work with my school schedule and I felt like my coworkers were being hostile towards me by refusing to take my shifts, gossiping about me, and just being really cold. I’m the only gay person where I work and I’m surrounded by members of a homophobic religion. They have discussed how their religious leaders are so brave for standing up against gay people in front of me and expressed horror at the idea of their kids coming out. So tonight, one of my coworkers who I trust and get along with spilled the tea. They have been gossiping about me since I started working here to my boss and among each other. Predecesor’s Salary Significantly Higher
When negotiating your salary, if you are aware of your predecessor’s salary is it acceptable to use it for comparison? It was disclosed to me by them and my boss is aware as I was asked to handle their exit package. By this point my experience is comparable if not objectively more, however my salary is 2/3 of what theirs was years ago.
