Hi there, long time lurker first time poster. I'm sure this may have been discussed before but as far as a strategy for retail and fast food workers to unionize has anybody discussed the over reliance that these large retail or fast food corporations have on their lowest level supervisors? The front line immediate supervisors at fast food joints and medium size retail locations are generally responsible for about 50% of the productivity at these locations and the other 50% goes to their subordinates to split amongst two to five people. I'm not trying to say that the front line workers don't pull their weight but if it wasn't for these immediate supervisors and their efforts most of the productivity would be lost. Even in Big Box stores, the frontline supervisors are responsible for overseeing that 90% of the work is being done. These frontline supervisor positions in any of…
So I have been seeing on other subreddits that much like every other company in the world, Tesla has massively expanded to the point where there are not enough parking spaces or desks in offices. The assumption is that Musk wants enough people to quit so this is no longer an issue. Would not Malicious Compliance work. Work together with all the other staff so everyone goes into the office at the same time on the same day for a few days in a row. Cause complete chaos make sure that photos are taken and news outlets bring in negative publicity A similar think happened in the UK and there has been a bit of a turnaround https://www.standard.co.uk/news/uk/government-nadhim-zahawi-department-for-education-jacob-reesmogg-leeds-b1001442.html
Late last year my supervisor told me my contract wasn’t getting renewed this spring. I had my suspicions that this wasn’t true(turns out he was leaving and was just trying to scare me/scalp me to keep working for him at a new company) but I still looked around for a backup in case because I’ve lost a contract before. Manager tells me later that they are very happy with me here and have no plans to let me go as I am one of their most prized employees and the whole organization/other departments know it, but I’ve already found out at this point that I could get 50-100 percent more than my current pay just down the hall and other departments are actively fighting over me if I choose to leave, have already had talks with them just in case, and know they’re very interested in me starting ASAP. I…
Wages vs Work Performed
I was thinking – it’s odd how it seems like the less you get paid, the more work you do, and the more you get paid, the less work you do. The higher you climb the ladder, the less work you have to do because you mainly delegate what needs to be done to those below you. I’ve had many jobs (corporate level) where my direct manager had a salary over $106,000 and she was always in her cubicle just doing “clerical” tasks. Meanwhile, Johnny and Sarah are taking 140 calls a day getting cussed out, and verbally abused for $10-$15 an hour…. it’s sickening…
They put the blame on me!
So I had got a company called me a week ago and scheduled an interview via Google Meet which was supposed to happen yesterday in the afternoon. I checked multiple times and was convinced that they didn't send me any invitation or any sort of URL to me as they told me they will send me on the day I will be interviewed. Yesterday I didn't get any URL, I request the URL and asked them whether the interview is cancelled. They saw the messages I sent them but never reply. Until this noon, I receive a long message that they suggesting to put the blame on me for 'being Gen-z bad attitude worker who didn't show up in the interview and not responsible '. I was confused. Why would they make such a statement as yesterday hours before the interview I was sending them messages and emailing them continuously…
