Fired for car crash
The title pretty much says it all. I'm a hairdresser, and was on my way into work when a car crashed into me. No one was seriously injured, but with the whiplash I had, I called my boss and told her I couldn't come in, I was in the hospital. She called me back an hour later and said she was packing up my station and to have someone else come get my things, I wasn't welcome back because I “let all the clients and the entire salon team down”. It would be laughable if my ribs weren't bruised, but instead it's depressing and overall feels so shitty
A month ago I made a sarcastic past about seeing a 30+ y old guy obviously on his first day at work in a shop, being overly polite and fake friendly in a 5 star resort butler kind of way, all for a chain store that replaces people like they are toilet paper rolls, probably with a week contract. I have nothing against friendly people, but I just knew he would be let go in mere days or weeks. No one wants an enthousiastic person who tries hard and no one should in fact try hard for a shitty job in my opinion. So I passed the store today and he was already replaced by a 65 year old man. Sorry happy person, told you this is what happens to people who try to be happy at work. Happened to a guy at the post office too. Gone in weeks.
A Modest Proposal for Gun Control
For preventing the use of arms on the children in America, from being a burden on parents or country, and for making them beneficial to the publick. Inspired by Dr. Jonathan Swift It is a melancholy object to those, who walk through this great state, or travel in the nation, when they see the streets, the shopping centers, the theatres, and elementary schools crowded with domestic terrorists of the male sex, followed by three, four, or six radicals, all in camo, and threatening every citizen with their arms. These monsters, instead of being able to craft an honest livelihood, have decided to employ all their time in strolling and threaten the lives of helpless infants who, as they grow up, either take trauma from excess of tragedy, or leave their dear native country, to live in Communist Europe, or flee towards that northern nation. I think it is agreed by…
A question about fair wages.
I come from a family full of small business owners. My dad makes about 100-150k a year (depending on the year) in his small business and has about 10 employees who make at minimum 40k and the top makes 80k. My dad’s salary doesn't seem outrageous to me as he pays higher wages than the industry standard. Are their any studies on fair wages for the owner of a company vs his employees? As I see it, my dad’s wage seems fair. He carries all the business debt and obviously never gets to clock out and has spent 21 years growing this business through thick and thin. I’m not asking about CEO’s of fortune 500 companies, but all the small business owners out there (less than ~100 employees). Thoughts on how to establish a fair salary for the owner of a small business?
Would you apply for this job?
Aight reddit, my work is struggling to refill a job. Tell me what you don't like or what we should do better. Figured this would be a good place to get feedback, but I'm cool with taking this to another page if this isn't the right place for it. I won't post the link or exact job because I'm weird and don't want my personal life connected to my reddit account (I have nothing to hide …. But still want to). We've been posting this in the usual places (i.e. LinkedIn, indeed), including government job sites and a number of universities in the area. The past few people who've had this job were recent college grads, so that's who we're primarily going after. The job has been posted for over a month now and we only have 2 applicants, who are not at all qualified. This is the only position…
Like, What can we take from that doesn't suck and where can we take it from to replicate? I'm talking cute lil laws, Infrastructure complexities, complete country breakdowns and even those tiny little philosophy quips. something that'd make working okay or truly remove it's necessity. UBI is currently up there in the talking points, along with places like New zealand & Finland or what have you. In all honestly i'm really lookin for some hope lmao, Might be a nice change of pace for the people on this sub eh? Canada kinda bono'd right now i'd say tho.
