I have been scrolling this sub reddit for some time. It definitely reminded me of the former company I have worked for; the way we were treated as employees was so toxic and unprofessional that most workers had left this company in a short span of time. If a company doesn't give but only takes, that is a HUGE red flag imo, they don't value their employees as human beings but as money making machine to gain more profit. Sadly, this is the truth in this job market. As the title suggests, I am currently working for a company that is very fair towards their employees, the wages are fair, we receive enough vacation days, employees have the chance to submit ideas and suggestions about their workplace and the conditions. Overall, I am very happy to work for this place because I feel appreciated for what I am doing everyday…
Rejected from my dream job
After a week of tryouts at a aerospace company I received a call from the recruiter stating they did not want to bring me on full time. I feel really small and discouraged. I had already imagined myself as part of the team as I had got along great with coworkers and management. Even had a discussion with management about how much they valued my skills and willingness to learn. So confusing and discouraging. But I will keep on keeping on till the right one comes along.
I work as a heavy diesel mechanic, it’s a very highly sought after field, the wages are increasing, the worker pool is getting smaller and the industry is always busy. I would say that I’m quite loyal to where I work, if im kept reasonably content I don’t look elsewhere and I don’t leave a job lightly. So I got cold called by a competitor brand service manager and was offered a job over the phone, went and met and received an offer of $20,000 a year more base than my current, an extra week vacation…
My supervisor today came up to me as I was leaving and commented about how I'm always coming and going like clockwork, her words. How I don't stay late every day. And she said, without actually coming out and saying it, that I ought to be staying late every day. But…I'm leaving when I'm scheduled to leave. I'm worried that I'll be getting corrective action if I don't stay late…? Some people do stay late yes, and in fact this supervisor stays late every single day for seemingly no reason. We aren't overly busy. It's business as usual every day. Yes, if there's work still to be done at the end of the day I'll stay a bit later and help catch us up, but if I'm working 6 a.m to 2:30 pm you bet your ass I'm outta there at 2:30. So my question is: Does…
