Let me start off by saying I do like my boss but I have been in my position for less than a year and I have been asked 5+ times to chip in for some stupid gift. First it was “National bosses day” (I’m sure some boss somewhere got a nice undeserved raise for that), then it was a birthday gift, then it was Christmas, then it was my bosses 7 year work anniversary, then it was my BOSSES BOSS’S anniversary and on and on and on. Every time our contract came up there was always talk of a strike and it never happened, so I didn’t pay much attention to it. But today is the day now, it’s never came down to the last day before and I’m kinda freaked out. I hate my job, but I gotta pay rent, you know… Anyway, I guess I probably shouldn’t say anything specific. Just hold out hope for me and the others, I guess :/
Got a 5% Raise cause of Merit
So I had my review less than a week ago and I was told I was getting a 5% raise after being here for 3 years and taking on multiple jobs to assist our ever growing department. Looking at inflation the raise doesn’t even cover the price changes the world is seeing all over let alone really qualify as making my wage livable. When asked why we can’t go higher than 5%, they gave me the excuse that the company bases their raises on merit. Mind you the people who are being hired this year are making only 90 cents less than what I am making after my raise. To further the insult my boss is now demanding that anyone wanting to leave their position notify her with a 2 week notice because it leaves her in the lurch and she has to go and find new people to hire.…

As in, doing work for free to showcase your skills to your potential employer. I know it's legal but the thought of it irks me. Opinions? This is just for a cake decorating job.
I was off for a couple of days and have come back to being asked to provide lists of what I'm planning to do work wise for the next 8 days. Then I've had a daily 15/30 minute call with rhe whole team put in my calendar where we're to tell everyone what we're working on that day, and what we completed from what we said we'd do the day before. I am a system owner and manage and develop a system with over 1500 users both within out business and external. A large potion of my work is dealing with daily issues from users. But that's not allowed on these calls, this is about specific things I'll be working on (user support can't be included).
