My boss and coworkers are relatively nice people. But I don’t want to be friends with them. Both work days this week my boss has pulled me and the other full-time employees into her office so she can update us on a surprise party were planning for some part-time employees. Urging everyone to volunteer their time and money to buy gifts for them because they’re leaving. No, I don’t want to do that. Frankly, I don’t care that the part-time employees are leaving, and I don’t think they’ll be that hurt if I don’t get them a $10 gift from Walmart because I don’t think they’ll remember me in a year or two. My job made me go back to the office full time last April, and after working from home it’s just so inefficient. For example, today I would’ve been in the office 9 hours plus 30 minute commute…
For context i am a welder and i do tanker trailer repair. For my job i use alot of somewhat dangerous tools, but most of the risk can be minimized with propper maintience and good quality tools. Its the second part of that which my company failed to do. They had me drill a 4 inch hole in a peice of 1/4x6x12 peice of stainless steel, nothing too out of the ordinary, but the hole saw they provided was the worst quality i have ever seen. It was brand new, and when i first went to use it the thing fucking shattered as soon as it touched the metal sending peices of it flying all over the shop at high speed. One of them embeded in my thigh, another in my face shield (which the company refused to provide and i had to purchase myself). The peice that hit my…
I (23) talked to my boss about a raise (from 16.5 to 18.5) a few weeks ago and she decided that the responsibilities she gave me (enough to be considered an assistant manager) only amounted to $17/hr. She also decided that my 2 co-workers (one who only works 2-3 days a week and one who's retiring in a few months) deserve more with half the work and none of the responsibilities. So I gave my 2 weeks. My last day is right before mother's day, our biggest holiday, being florists. I'm not the only one leaving too. To make up for just my position she has to hire and train 3-4 new people (7-10 new people total). What makes it even worse for them is they refuse to discipline one of my older co-workers who preaches God at work, talks about running over homeless people, and is just generally horrible.…
I'm started my job making $17/hr and a couple months ago they gave a whopping 3% 'CoL' raise. I am respected for doing my job well. I'm coming up on my yearly review which should include a raise what should my minimum be? Inflation is what, 8%(and rising)? So if they offer me a raise to $19 that would about make up for inflation but not be an actual raise? So I should demand at least $20/hr? What do you think of my plan? They offer no raise, blaming higher costs or some BS, and I quit on the spot. I expect them to offer me a raise to $18, at which point I will attempt to argue that's not enough. They will most likely not care and I will put in my 2 weeks. Hoping they change their minds before it's up. They actually offer me something reasonable…
The Atlantic proving our point out here
I have a job interview with them soon. I wanted to know if anyone has ever worked there and if so, what it was like! I'm sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but I don't always trust the reviews on the hiring sites.
I have an upcoming conference with Ross distribution, and was wondering if any of you have any experience with settling outside of the conference. If so how were you contacted by the employer
