What are your opinions about mental health professionals?

Mine is that they may be helpful to some people, but all in all, the only way to help a person mentally is to help him live a less stressful life. Talk therapy won't make you stop dread work or worry about rent. Bored billionaires are more likely to be benefitted by the help of a therapist. A wage slave – not so much.

Is there any app or site or method that would allow for workers to anonymously pledge to unionize, and, once a threshold is met, anonymity can be eliminated and the workers can securely move forward as a union?

I am very proud of my colleagues and me because we got our vicious manager fired.

I just want to post that here. Since 4 years I am working for a worldwide corporation that produces and sells medical instruments. The demand they have on employees is high but so is the salary and overall I think the corporation is doing good for the employees based on what I can see on rating sides like glassdoor.com. But I had the luck to start in a team that was managed by a textbook of all traits of a malignant manager. Calling us during leisure time, weekend, holidays, sick leave, one person even had to write a report while lying in hospital having covid. Squeezing us out for information she can present to her management. Our team is completely separated from all other departments as a result of year manipulation (other departments always are presented to new employees as lazy etc.). We have no teambuilding events and no solidarity.…

Found this sign at a local dinner. Decided to eat somewhere else. Sounds like a horrible place to work.

I feel like I’m a hostage in my workplace

VENT (tl;dr at the bottom) So for background, I’ve worked on and off for my current employer for a number of years now. It’s been the only company I’ve ever worked for (only really due to convenience, not choice). As of the past few months, corporate has been introducing changes to nearly all of our administrative functions, basically rewriting the way we do everything. They’ve given us multiple new reports to print and track daily, they’ve completely overhauled the programs we’d been using to schedule, track sales and performance, and so on. A simple two-step process of, say, “find and print daily file,” has become “find file, pull numbers for file from multiple reports and locations (some of which you need to tweak before they can even be readable)” and yet we are given no extra time to accommodate for how much longer these new processes take. This is only…

Food Service is among the least unionized industries, so here is my story about how concerted activity got us a few good changes in my restaurant.

I should start by saying that I don't work at some small family restaurant. I work at a very well known chain. Im going to be vague, but this is one of the very most popular chains in the US. There are about 1500 locations for this chain alone, and it belongs to a publicly traded holdings company, currently ranked #681 on Fortune. Revenues are over 4 billion. CEO pay ratio is 460 to 1 according salary.com. I could go on, but I just wanted to illustrate the size of this company. As the title says and as is probably common knowledge, workers in the food service industry are among the least unionized workers in the US, which of course is not unionized well to begin with. It is well within this company's ability to fight any union effort or concerted activity. I also can't understate how against all odds…
