Starting to get frustrated at new job.
I graduated from college in 2018 and received a bachelors in production and management. We all know the stories of having difficulty finding a decent job (let alone one relevant to a degree you obtain) these days, so i'll spare you the details of my entire work history. I will say that every job I've ever had (until currently) had been gig work, work-study through school, delivery jobs etc. E.G Not jobs I expected a lot out of or planned on staying in for an extended period of time. After working at a restaurant and an unnamed massive corporation that specializes in delivering goods to consumers, I finally landed a (temp) position at a pretty big company that manufactures lab equipment. The company has a temp agency sign you on to a contract that doesn't seem to have a specific end date on it, with the promise that if you…
9-5 is a conspiracy
It was invented to prevent people from thinking. Take the Greeks for example, when people with high IQ had enough time to think, they came up with important “stuff”. In our days the lords in the higher positions of the social hierarchy don't want people to think, so they keep people busy with bullshit jobs that are not necessary in the first place. Or keep them at least 8 hours (plus commuting hours) doing a job that can be done in 15 minutes from home. The important thing is not giving them time to think for themselves.
Quitting Scorched Earth Style.
For context, I live and work in New Zealand. Here, we have a law called the Employment Relations Act (2000). I work part time at a fast food restaurant over the busy lunch rush. According to the above law, if I work between two and four hours, I'm entitled to a paid ten minute break (Part 6D, Section 69ZD). Furthermore, under the same section of the same part of the same act, it is my employer's responsibility to provide me with my breaks, not my responsibility to ask for them. I'm also the only employee on the lunch rush who frequently goes without the break to which I am legally required to take, and this is mainly due to the fact that my hours are so short that if I work through the lunch rush, my manager believes there is no point to me taking my break because I'll be…
I’m the top salesperson out of 65 people. Woo hoo and whatever. But my boss is a micromanager (you need to make a sales call every 7 minutes) and regularly gaslights our team (‘that’s not what I said’). The whole team feels this way. I tried to ask one of the higher ups a couple of questions and she called me and told me to “be careful” because it all comes back to her. She won’t allow us to give anonymous feedback about her performance either. What can I do?
I might not have the complete picture, but if they’re not on the clock, why are they expected to be on the plane greeting customers? shouldn’t they have the freedom to be off the plane until right before the door shuts?
working hard gets you nothing
I'm tired of hearing “if you just work harder you'll get what you want in life.” Wanna know what i have? Depression, anxiety, can't afford a house, i can barely buy food for myself, and i get passed up at every opportunity to move up. F*k this man. I'm tired.
is this legal
So the most bullshit thing happened to me at work today. I work in warehouse job doing constant repetitive motions for context. I felt something pop / move in my neck shoulder area, with hot pain going up to my ear down to my hand, to my collar bone. It all still hurts 10 hours later BTW. I seriously think something is wrong, so I went and did a report. I was told I could go to a doctor of their choice but if something is wrong and I had to miss work I have to use my remaining vacation time. Which mind you is only 40 hours for the half year.. I pay for temporary disability or whatever with my insurance? Also they sent me home without pay after me crying saying u can't afford that. So is this even legal? Because as of right now I jave to…
