Why was anti work shut down?
It was too much work to keep up
My daughter has been working a little over a month at a restaurant. Local chain that works a little like Qdoba/Subway but with salad bowls. Last weekend she was on a conference call while I drove her in where the manager was basically nitpicking about tasks and mentioned that she is only there M-F day shifts. None of the kids working have work permits. This evening my daughter was scheduled the closing shift (4.5 hrs) with only two other fifteen year olds that have all been working there less than three months. I’m stressed out over an adult not being present with all the potential dangers. They also had to operate the oven and wash knives when their handbook states that an adult must do those tasks. Is this a situation where we call the manager? Do we go to a higher up authority to report it? Not a lot…
Hours Got Cut 2 Weeks Into Being Hired
Hours at the corporate store job I work at got cut just two weeks into being hired. Manager and sales leader called me into the office for a “performance review.” The sales leader bitches about me making a trip to the restroom every day of June. I tell her I have digestive problems. She suggests I go see a doctor. I tell her I can't afford to. After a bit more chatter, they point me to the new schedules. For the next three weeks they say, I and most of my coworkers' hours will be severely cut to save the company money. I barely managed to afford rent this month. I can't afford my utility bills this month. And after just getting hired, my full-time job of $13/hr will be reduced to just two days a week for the next three weeks.
