Reading some of the posts on here remind me of a huge disaster I avoided by quitting after day two of training!!

I was going to nursing school and I applied at a nursing home for seniors, as a CCMA, I really needed a job while attending school and I was willing to start at the bottom and work my way up. The interview should’ve been my first red flag, after the interview I walked Into the office of head nurse and I kid you not there must’ve been 300 sheets of paper all over her desk all different directions, it wasn’t like a stack it was like a mountain shaped pile of paper. I looked at it and thought to myself this is how people die this is a freaking disaster. But like I said I really needed a job. The pay was garbage too, it was freaking $10 an hour but the head nurse there promised me “I’m going to start you in this position since you don’t have a…

I Feel Like A Disappointment

Just thinking about how I’ve been working for about half of my life and how little of my own goals I’ve gotten accomplished for various reasons. I used to be extremely ambitious and wanted to move up into corporate, but some of my own actions have sabotaged that (thankfully, looking back, it turned out to be a good thing). I want to open my own business, but I’m not good enough with money to open such an enterprise. I make good money in what I’m doing and reasonably happy where I’m at now, but I’m sad about not knowing what my end game is. This is underscored by the fact that my wife is beholden to a corporation that creates terrible working conditions and she’s stuck there out of loyalty. I love traveling and eating and would love to go into some sort of business for myself that involves that,…

No stupid question: How do you feel when a recruiter requests a word doc of your resume?

Being serious. I always submit a pdf. version of my resume to any job posting, recruiters, etc. I see no point in sending a word doc. Just curious about anyone's perspective on the matter. Basically I'm looking to leave my current job, but I certainly don't want to waste time with perspective employers.

People with no experience face discrimination

Every employer seems to hate training and teaching people. It appears that they all want job candidates with work experience, yet if one has no experience, they’ll have a next to impossible time finding a job. We need to write to our congressmen/congresswomen to demand a new regulation: End no-experience discrimination. Every company should have a training program for people with no experience and be required to hire people with no experience. Who’s with me?

My coworker is angry with me because she is too afraid to stand up for patients safety

I always get in trouble when it comes to my patients safety. I don’t care who you are if you ask me to do a questionable thing I will say no. I got bullied and harassed and threatened on a daily basis. And I keep fighting back. She just got bullied to do unsafe thing and she did it. When I got to work she was angry with me because I wouldn’t do it. Seriously dude it’s none of my buisness that you agreed. I just had someone yesterday sending emails about me to my department management when I brought to his attention my safety concern. I literally throw myself under the bus for my patients its not fun and I do not want to do it. But I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night if I didn’t. What to do with those coworkers who get pissed when you…

UPDATE: Boss not answering my time sensitive request about payment

So she called and we talked and she said it was a mistake that the payment would be sent on June 16th. I said ok, so what are we going to do to fix it? I asked if she had re scheduled the payment and then she told me “that’s not how it works” and that she would have to cancel the payment and the computer will pick a new, earlier date. The system she uses is Quickbooks, and I am paid as a non employee. I feel like what she said is bullshit. Is anyone familiar with the Quickbooks system that can tell me if this is true or not? I feel like there’s no way it’s not possible for her to simply cancel and reschedule the payment to an earlier date manually. TLDR: My job usually pays me within the first week of the month, June’s payment isn’t…
