I originally accepted an offer asking to work part-time for specific days and hours but my job just changed them to whatever hours they wanted a couple weeks in. One week they didn’t schedule me at all and ignored me even when I asked them about it. Other times they schedule people for full shifts but force people to go home mid-shift if they’re full staffed. I feel like it’s unfair for them to change up the hours they gave me as they see fit yet expect me to notify them in advance about my availability. I didn’t get it written on a contract or anything, for future reference is this something most employers do or do I have to go out of my way to make sure I keep the terms that I signed up for?
Essentially dead
I keep seeing more and more of it. They have the ear of the media, they control the largest networks and television and all forms of broadcast. And they are broadcasting indeed their thoughts and stance, they are attempting to shift sentiment, to spread propaganda. It's always been something of a superiority complex amongst executives and anyone granted some sort of leadership position, but lately, amongst the uber wealthy. People at the very highest positions in society, the morally intolerably, obscenely wealthy people who have benefited from thousands, tens of thousands of workers serving up, sacrificing, an unfair portion of the wealth we've created, these people have taken a stance, drawn a line, and are ordering your peasantry asses back into your boxes to serve them. It's this growing attitude, perhaps it's always been there, that they OWN you. Your sole purpose was to be in your place, serving them.…
We talk constantly about how much our employers are underpaying us, but do you know how much you actually cost your employer? No No, Hear me out a second, I'm not suggesting employers aren't bending us over, but I think we're overlooking the fact that we're getting tag teamed. In CA, where min wage is $15 an hour, your pay before taxes is just over 31k. Of that, you get to take home about 25k. But what no one talks about is the employer side taxes and required spending on things like unemployment, worker's comp, and so on. Why does it matter? Because the cost of those things is calculated based on your salary. When all of those things get put together, and before your company offers you any benefits, your 25k has cost the company nearly 44k. Again, why does this matter? Because without those costs, your pay almost…
started a new job and I’m ready to quit
I started a new job about 2 weeks ago at a dog daycare. Dogs are great but the management is laughable. So they recently had a mandatory meeting with no pay (on my day off after working 6days straight), at this meeting they implemented new rules. For example if you're late for ur shift then you're not allowed to go on break. Also no matter what time you're scheduled to get off your expected to stay “until the work is done”, which I'm scheduled to get off at 8pm but we don't end up leaving until 10pm because the procedures are flawed and don't allow enough time to actually do the job. Also they will be taking 30min out of our checks for break even if we didn't go on break. Other things, I have no health benefits and they don't even offer it for full time. They let aggressive…
