No, Wendy’s, I don’t think I will.
Background check question
So basically I'm applying for a job and I worked in europe before. I'm thinking of adding a couple extra months to my work resume and a title that's a grade higher because that's what's required for the job. Do they actually vet international resumes in the states. Fyi it's a pretty big nyc company.
To elaborate on the title, every past job I've had, the sales department was always kind of… special. I stopped for a minute to think about it and concluded that commissions must be a significant factor contributing to the toxicity that is often perceived from an outsider's perspective. I think that commissions breed a competitive environment rather than a collaborative one, which ends up attracting a specific type of personality, thus creating in-groups and out-groups. What's your thoughts?
Shady gov contracting practices??
Figure you all might know about this kind of thing. I work for a contracting company for the DoD. They are TERRIBLE – I won't bother to list all the shady and corrupt things that go on. But anyway their whole giant contract is up for re-bid. Most employees want them to lose so a better company can take over. But to help them WIN the bid, they're asking a handful of people to help write the actual bid proposal and sign letters of intent that state we will stay with the company if they win. They're offering large cash bonuses for signing the letters and writing help. They also told us we're NOT allowed to talk to other companies who are bidding or sign letters of intent with them. Anyone have ideas on the best move here? Is this shit illegal…unethical?? Everyone wants these cash bonuses, but we also…

I have to fill out this “anonymous” survey at work and one question asks how to improve the place by stating what else can they do aside from providing higher wages. How to respond when higher wages is literally the only valid answer?
I’m a construction worker at a remote industrial work camp housing approximately 5000 workers. Recently, management decided to cut costs by switching from a behind-the-glass serving buffet to to an open-buffet. We are all getting sick with GI infections – the kind that are spread by infected fecal germs getting into the food – due to contaminated serving tongs constantly sliding down into the tray. Many complaints have been made to safety and management, and reports filed with the regional food safety branch, but nothing is changing. I want to quit but I really need this job. The union representatives say it’s a losing battle. Other than quitting, what else can be done about it?
