When I found this sub 6 months ago my first reaction was “wow look at all these communist lazy bastards” but the more I interacted with people and read posts I have to apologize I was still blinded by the blind loyalty to capitalism…so many people on this sub are hardworking, have great careers etc…this sub has really opened my perspective tbh I’ve worked all types of “low skill “ jobs …burgerking, retail clothing, grocery store but I never respected it because I felt like it was above it and I was only doing it till I got my degree (information technology management) but the fact of the matter is our country would go to shit if every retail , fast food and grocery store employee quit tomorrow they’re so important and society has taught us to look down on them IM SO SORRY
Manager decided to go hybrid but honestly, wants everyone to come everyday of the week. Using bullying tactics and manipulation to scare his employees to come to the office. So, I went because I need the money to pay cc debt. I arrive at the designated floor and behold! Everyone from my team is sat on the floor! The literal carpeted floor because we don't have desks or offices or even chairs. I swallow my shame and anger and sit on the floor and start working. By lunchtime, manager has procured a “conference” room for us. It's literally a closet. Four chairs, one big table. That's it. We are 6 people. Two people need to sit on the floor while others sit on the chairs and use the table. Imagine 6 people working in a small room. The noise, the bumping of elbows, the irritation because my manager keeps micromanaging…
2 weeks of PTO in a year for a Full time employee? Wtf? every other developed nation gets more than that. Why does the US hate parental leave? A lot of jobs don’t even have it and when they do it’s unpaid. And part-time employees get nothing, not even the basics like healthcare. The US is anti-union. Most jobs don’t have pensions. On top of that, we have to deal with no life having, micromanaging supervisors.
yep, good morning
I am true anti-work. I often hear the rebuttle to this being that it's important for individuals to contribute to society in some way. I think this is total bullshit, work is the reason I am not contributing to society. I was off work the entire pandemic, I volunteered at an animal sanctuary, a cat rescue, and with a grassroots organization feeding the public. I was available to help friends, do beach cleanups and contribute to society in the ways I see fit. Now, back to work in stuck improving the lives of rich assholes and providing services i could never even afford if i didn't have the skills to do the work myself… So even though I make ex amount, I would never be able to hire someone like me after my cost of living. I paint houses for a living and while I enjoy it because it's solitary…
Co-worker doesn’t do jack sh!t
So I've been at this company for a couple weeks… my co-worker which is supposed to be skilled at my level doesn't do any work. The tasks that may take a few hours takes him days, on top of that always misses meetings. Should I bring this up to my boss? It is and will effect my work load. How long should I wait to tell my boss ?
