Hey folks, Sorta fresh account here. Just never used this email for reddit -.- I work a pretty crappy desk job, and I'm only doing it because I needed a job for awhile and some friends helped me get it. I just landed a cool gig with Amazon Web Services (kind of the devil but they pay well and I get to do IT) and I'm having trouble quitting. I guess my big hang-up is that its a really small team here, and I'm doing the lions share of work. I kind of feel like I'm hanging my current team out to dry. I really don't want to give a two weeks notice. This current job isn't in my preferred field and it's so draining mentally, but I know its the right thing to do. My friend just left last week, and she was bullied for her last two weeks.…
e.g. your company has a stupid IT policy which bans you from installing your own software but your boss tells you to install X piece of software to do your job. It's probably not something you're going to get in trouble for but it's still bullshit
So my soon to be former job in the caregiving industry has managed to alienate and disillusion me so badly from caregiving that I want nothing further to do with the field and once my notice is finished on May 8th, I will never work in caregiving again due to the mistreatment and horrible management of our clients and employees… Examples in the last year and a half of why I flipped out this week and gave my notice in bereavement card form… – Staff making constant false allegations against people they don't like just to get them fired. – Being forced to work 24 plus hour shifts (which is illegal as hell, even in Tennessee). – Purposely pushing back a client's COVID test so they would test negative so they didn't have to quarantine a house. (Saw this first hand and if the company denies it, they're…
Vent post idk
My boss is gonna be gone for about a week and wants me still in office (I'm his only employee, I just run the front desk) and mentioned yesterday about needing a flyer for marketing. Nothing too big maybe like 6x6in. I told him I can see if there's anything I can do (which was my first mistake) and told him multiple times I was not guaranteeing anything and I haven't used photoshop since high school, just that I would try. Went home to see if I could try to make something of it. Told him today that I didn't think I would be something I'm capable of doing after attempting it at home. He told me that since I'll have so much time while he's gone and “YouTube has videos for everything” that he wants me to do it while he's out of office. I told him straight up…
RTO is a total rip-off
What's next? Are employers going to send us a bill instead of a paycheck? A pandemic qualifies for stimulus but WWIII doesn't? I feel bad for those where remote is never an option. https://preview.redd.it/wocrvp5izwu81.jpg?width=563&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=9eb9879a4c729dc3e01b169e0f2a605432b51bdf
Cali enacted a salary minimum wage tied to hourly minimum this year. Requirement of double. So large companies now MUST pay 30$/hr for salaried employees. My company decided to convert people to hourly and change hiring practices to hourly for new employees for anyone that would be below this. Cause Fuck paying people. I hope the stock here tanks and we go out of business even though I know we won’t. That would be Rad
Small Rant
Sorry for formatting, posting from mobile. So I'm not 100% sure if this fits here, but I just needed to get it out. I work for a property management company, and one of my jobs is doing pre-qualifications for potential tenants on our available properties. It is so heartbreaking how many people I cannot help who are in dire situations just because their credit scores are not high enough or they don't bring home two and a half times the monthly rent. In terms of landlords, my boss is by no means a slumlord and we receive a lot of compliments on how quickly we get tenant issues taken care of, but I still can't shake the inherent problem that is making a basic human right a commodity. I need the job and it's a good work environment (I literally wanted to catch covid to have an excuse to stay…
Watch/Listen to Hadestown
Hadestown is a folk album by Anais Mitchell. It evolved into a Broadway show and it is excellent, while carrying a strong antiwork sentiment. It retells the story of Orpheus and Eurydice. There’s a Broadway 2019 album and the original 2010 album. I can’t recommend either enough and I’m surprised I haven’t seen anything posted about it. https://youtu.be/Q1VDxMe54Og
