TLDR – paragraphs with ■ So it's a pretty well known US national franchise, my store just opened the weekend before last and my first day was the Wednesday before that and day one, they were already committing serious OSHA violations (which has continued, to myself and multiple others, every day, to gig day. And I will be filling a formal complaint once I'm either feeling a bit more secure in my employment since my employer will have to be notified of the file which includes my name and the details of what I filed for, or if i become too disheartened by their bullshit to continue investing any more time into this job. But I regress tho). They also lost my food handler's card 6 days after my start, even tho I had accidentally printed the card out about 12x the size that normal FHCs are, so the image…
I hope this is the right place to post this. I could use some advice. I live alone and work from home so don’t have an outlet. I’m at a breaking point today so I thought I’d make a post to vent and hopefully get some advice. I don’t feel safe speaking to anyone in the business in fear of lack of confidentiality and I fear confronting my boss because I’m on a fixed term contract, hopefully on the cusp of permanency, and I don’t want to risk my boss terminating me. I’d like to think I have support from some of his seniors where it would be out of his hands but I do not trust him and do not know the depths of his Machiavellian nature. My boss is out of his depth, intellectually black and white and quite bombastic in meetings. He has recently been undermined with…
I work for a dealership group, i work for the #1 dealership within the company and #2 dealership in the nation in that brand. Two of our salespeople are making over $300k YTD. No sales people make under $55k YTD. I myself plan to go into sales at this dealership when an assistant position comes about. I bring home 2100 dollars a month if i don’t work overtime. Average rent around me is 1150 for a one bedroom in a decent neighborhood. 800-900 in a bad neighborhood. Gas is 4 dollars. Groceries cost hella money. The other day one of the top salesmen joked about how he lost $14k last weekend sports betting. But was laughing, while i was just a few feet away thinking how i wish i had 14k to blow. One of my buddies who is a porter been here for a few years and make $14…
Just started a new job
I know this isn’t exactly an advice subreddit, but I’d love to hear any pearls of wisdom from this community in particular.
This isn’t mine but gave me a good laugh
I’m a manager of a small team at a INC1000 company. Here is a little about me and my team and company: I read r/antiwork a lot and naturally try to be a better leader – i always 100% of the time approve time off – never message team after hours – support and train them – more than half the team was promoted within 6-12 months – by far the best promotions of any team in the history of the company. I actively mentor them and encourage them to apply when higher roles open up. – I also lead by example by knowing the job inside and out. – never micromanage team. I hated when it was done to me so i don’t do it! – give them endless positive reinforcement – always make team look good in any reporting – fought and got the team 2 raises in…
Board members, am I right?
feeling tired after job hunting
I keep looking for places around me and remotely. The places near me are like only paying 10 an hour..I don't want to work did service again..I end up feeling super tired after searching only a few hours. I convinced myself it's just me being lazy or my depression but is job searching always exhausting?
It's about the buying power! i've been lurking/commenting on this sub for a while and I see this come up often about reasonable wages and living wages, and promotions and raises and I see a lot of people thinking they are getting a good deal when they really aren't Don't calculate how much you are making in absolute numbers. Calculate how much you make with your buying power… what % of your salary is dedicated to what. There is no ultimate guide, some people give priority to their homes and furniture while someone like me would be happy with a 1 bedroom with a 100k entertainment system in it. So budget how much in % are you willing to put into rent/food/utilities/entertainment etc… and gauge your needed salary accordingly. start with a minimum living. look at the average cost of living in your area. If you can't live in the…
