I have been having health issues. I just started a new career at a credit union two months ago. I started having what seemed like UTI symptoms and it wasn't a UTI three weeks ago. I got results back from my ultrasound and I have a mass on my kidney. I talked to HR about this and their response? “We don't allow time off without PTO so you can leave your position and reapply when your situation is resolved, or you could ask others to donate PTO so that you can take time off to handle your medical issues.” And then added, “We're sorry to hear you're not feeling well.” Um, thanks? So I guess I'm going to be jobless since I need time off for multiple screenings, biopsies, and probably surgery not to mention if it's not benign I might need cancer treatment.
Non Compete Clause
Hi r/antiwork! I'm currently employed and signed a non compete clause agreement when I started working at my job over a year ago. I'm ready to move on, but stay in the same industry. I work retail and sell phone products. Will a non compete clause 100% prevent me from staying in the wireless industry? I'm confused on the whole thing. I'm so done with the company I work for and feel stuck.
Damn, not even getting pizza no more..
Anti-work is nearly entirely theoretical at this stage. If politics isn't the mechanism for implementing new ideas and change, then what is, exactly? Is this sub only for posting infuriating emails from your boss? How punchless.
But that would still require having the funds to buy land, funds to install a well for access to potable water, install a septic system, and a way to generate electric and heat. Oh and growing your own food, of course. The only thing I see still tying you to the grid after all that is property tax. This of course is through the eyes of an American. It’s obvious that other nations will have different circumstances.
So I worked at Max's in North Philly as a Bartender not only did the manager promise me a payout for each day as a trainer but he the REVOKED his promise after the week was up. And they wonder people don't want to work! Management also directed me to give ALL my tips to the Bartender that was training me even when I made the drinks! So she made at least 40% more than what she would've made on her own! Using good workers and then throwing them away!
