Do you think a bunch of people applying and not following through would get them to see you the error of their ways? I’ve seen a couple of jobs that have insulting salary bands but have senior level titles and demand on-site only with no remote or hybrid options, so the thought has crossed my mind at least to just….waste their time
Is there a hardcore version of this sub?
Basically title. This is a wonderful resource, but there a lot of hypothetical anarchists here and it drowns out some of the real strategies that I'm interested in learning/sharing.
I’m considering getting a job at Amazon
I will be as vocally pro-union as I can. I will also walk off the job when my shift is over. I will never help with a second shift. I want to see how quickly I get fired. Thoughts? (This is just a social experiment for my personal experience but I think it would be interesting)
Whenever I try to commiserate with my fellow teachers, all I get is virtue signaling from them. No one can seem to understand why I don’t like my job. It is so taboo for a teacher to express how little they enjoy teaching or dealing with students. “You don’t like a room full of 15 year olds all at once? You must be a horrible person. I love my students, and they love me.” Well, I don’t love my students. And I don’t love my job. I’ve tried to look for encouragement to leave from people outside the field, and even they don’t understand. But, where else am I going to get 2 months off every year? Where else am I going to get 2 weeks off for Christmas and a week off for Thanksgiving? This is what makes it so confusing. I don’t like teaching, but everything else sucks…
Tomorrow is ‘random’ drug test day.
Since today is 4/20. Just sayin'.

Your boss is NOT your friend.
I have interviewed with a few companies in the last six months and they have all posted full time positions then during the interview are like “LOL jking it’s only part time.” How is this acceptable? Today I hung up on a recruiter because not only did she continue to interrupt me while trying to answer a question, she also told me the posting was for part time only. Screw you. I am happy to say I accepted a job offer two weeks ago for full time employment and start tomorrow but I wanted to feel this company out. Just a rant.
A little background before my short…ish rant. I (38M) have worked in retail, production/warehouse, delivery, construction, logging and am currently a truck driver. Throughout my 2+decades of jobs I've had, every one advertised that they “offer” overtime to those that want it, however all have penalized me for not wanting it. Currently I am looking for a different job mainly because I had an agreement of 35-45 hours a week and am consistently getting 55-65 hours. I mean money is great, but not nearly as good as going home and spending afternoons with my family. So while looking at different jobs. Everyone lists overtime under the same category as signing bonuses, consistent hometime, weekends off, etc. Wouldn't it be more accurate to put overtime under the “requirement” section instead? Also, why is it they can agree to one thing but then back out of it directly after?
