It's not worth pulling your hair out at a job because of stress. It's not worth pulling your hair out at a job that pays minimum wage that took away your bonus. It's not worth pulling your hair out, for minimum wage, where you need to travel 100 miles a week because your boss removed all work from home. I spend a quarter of my paycheck to work a complex minimum wage job and do two people's work. The boss refuses to hire anyone and we have had people leave. If one more person leaves the company will be in trouble but the boss is retiring so he doesn't care. I'm so tired of being out the house 10 hours a day and feeling so wrung out I want to just sleep. It's not worth it. I'm so very tired.
I feel bad about it, but I need the money. I have hardened my heart and told them sternly that I need the final pay tomorrow. This subreddit and other users here have encouraged me to do this and I am very thankful. I have worked for them for more than 3 years and never got a raise except for a suspicious bond contract that I paid for so that I can resign.
Got hired recently..
Making 18$ an hour, a bit after my post college job didn’t work out. I consider this to be good pay for the type of job I’m doing and my family and friends keep being surprised and telling me that 18$ an hour is great and so lucky. While they’re right, it just hit me that if I had a kid or something like that it wouldn’t even be close to enough money. And it’s a good bit above minimum wage. Why should I be considered lucky to have a job that you can’t realistically survive on? I’m not new to this frustration as I’m sure none of you are but just an annoying reminder that I wouldn’t have noticed otherwise.
Sharing a positive workplace experience.
I'm not American, I live in Scandinavia and I'm currently working at a regular store. 20 M What I noticed from this sub is that a large portion of people seem to have a very dystopian view on workplace-worker relationships. A lot of the posts I see are Employer pays bare minimum. Worker Does bare minimum. From reading and hearing about working conditions in the U.S, I'm in shock as to how poorly the workers rights are treated. Listening some of these stories truly makes me sick, it sounds especially bad for those with medical conditions that are trapped in their workplace due to not being able to find new insurance. Hearing all of these very sad stories I just wanted to tell you about my very positive Experiences working in a regular store (Sweden) Going to work makes me happy. I believe everyone at my workplace feels the same…
musk at it again
WARNING: Long post ahead. This was a really frustrating experience and I was just looking for a place to vent it out. I used to work for a small time e gaming casino in my town as a security guard. The security department was fairly new and created a few months before they hired me. I was favored by a most staff and supervisors because I was actually doing my job of enforcing rules on customers and staff alike, actually keeping the work area safe for employees. I don't want to sound like I'm bragging or bringing anyone down but the rest of the department was comprised of just anyone willing to take the job which were mostly elderly men with no experience in the job. The department only had base level staff, no manager, no supervisor, was all lead by the Gaming Manager who was often to busy to…
When did this become the norm?
How come you can't just send your CV to employers anymore? Noticed more and more how there's either some random bullshit test or you have to complete, or you have to sign up to a completely different website to complete some long ass application. Looking at you indeed.
