My anti work manifesto

I’m 35 years old and I have been working since I was 17 years old. Being born as a second generation American from an immigrant family, I was instilled from an early age of the importance of academic and financial success. I studied hard in high school, got into university on a military scholarship, and served the military honorable for six years. After the military, I worked for a Fortune 500 company since then and have become a model employee who never complains, always volunteering to do the extra work when needed, and rarely called off as I will go to work even when I am not feeling well. Throughout all this time my physical and mental health has suffered due to stress and it got to the point where I questioned myself of what my purpose in life was. Was I going to keep doing this until I turn…

Scheduled to come in then sent home.

I work for a contractor for fedex. Boss schedules people to work on days and then right before clock in time he will tell you to go home. This is an every week thing. He schedules us to come in just in case it’s heavy and he needs us. Should we not get paid for this? We are essentially on call. Sometimes people drive over an hour to the terminal then get told to go home and get no pay. Georgia

/target and /HomeDepot it’s like watching a dystopian nightmare where slaves are happy they are treated like garbage.

So antiwork , homedepot and target are all linked apparently . And it’s actually crazy how people bend over backwards for these companies. Reading some of their posts is like watching an Orwellian future .

Satan works hard, but I work harder

Hi everyone, thought you might find this amusing. Every week, I get around 2-3 recruiters reaching out to me. For context, I work in a very high-turnover industry, and it's not uncommon for people to hop around agencies and companies every year. I'm not actively looking to leave my job because my boss actually gives a shit about us and pays us above average to help retain employees and reduce turnover. On top of above average salary, we all get unlimited PTO (yes, unlimited; all I have to do is let my direct manager know at least two weeks in advance, and they make sure we're staffed around those days), health, dental, vision, 401k, etc. It's a pretty cushy job for what I do. Anyways, recruiters reach out to me, and I always entertain them. I ask what they're looking for, what the duties are, and what the salaries are.…

How soon after a promotion does an employer have to pay their employee their promised increased wages?

I was promoted a little over a month ago and was promised a raise, in the contract I signed it shows the date my title changed and when my responsibility changed as well as the new pay rate. Its been two pay cycles since that date and I'm still being paid at the original rate. I was told some bullshit about the first pay cycle, that I had to wait till the next one because of some company policy my manager didn't elaborate on. On the second pay cycle I worked a shit load of overtime because people where calling in sick and I was filling in for them while also short staffed. I had to work a 16 hour shift, overnight followed by a fucking turn around. The only thing that got me through it was knowing that my paycheck was going to make up for it a little.…

I am so sick to my stomach

I've been looking for work for months, applying anywhere I was remotely qualified for. I'm getting evicted, I can't pay my bills, I've been in poverty for years and struggling but the last few months have been really bad. JUST got hired at a fast food joint. I was so relieved. Then as I'm doing my onboarding I have to sign authorizing them to run a background check. Ok cool. Whatever. But I also had to authorize a full credit check. With a score check. My credit is screwed. I had worked really hard and had it up to a 630 4 years ago and got laid off. Defaulted on a lot of payments just trying to keep a roof over my head and food in my kids stomach. Credit score went down to a 485. I never got to a place where I could fully catch up. I have…
