They're both ~55 yo, pushing 60 soon So anyway, I had a talk with them and these fucking idiots just simply cannot understand it's not normal that I'm looking at wage-slaving for 40 years (I'm 24) just so I can retire or sth Hell I don't even want to live that long especially as a non-rich person, fuck all that. My life has been so overrated, ofc I'm not a special case, but the big difference between me and normies is they're brainwashed into thinking this is OK and there's nothing wrong with this. I don't wanna hustle, I don't wanna grind, I wanna live my life doing fuck all for society since society hasn't done anything for me so why should I wanna contribute to society? I have zero reasons to I just wanna live my life doing whatever I want (and by that I don't mean work. I…
how not be be a bad boss
I'm planning on starting a business soon (I'm still waiting for a hernia repair so may be quite a while) I'd be detailing models / custom dioramas, bases etc… If I did well enough to need help and hired someone for a few hours a week to help prep and eventually teach how to do the complex stuff, how would I do it? Say I needed a person one day a week, how do you make sure you're not exploiting them? I'd ideally hire a nerdy 6th former who just wanted a bit of beer money (as I once was) and pay them above the adult min wage (I think it's too low for adults and if a 16 year old does the same job they deserve the same pay as a 25 year old) It would be just me at first as it may take a while to be…
Co-worker tantrum?
I pulled in to my job's parking lot yesterday. Almost everyone was in for the day. There is one spot in our parking lot where you can pull through the rest have curb stop dividers. I see no one's parked there so I go to park in the spot. My car is about 3/4 in when my co-worker drives the nose of their car to face mine. I wait a little to see if they realize i was already there. I know this certain co-worker is inconsiderate most days so after a couple of seconds I reverse out and then have to awkwardly park right next to them in a non-spot. They park, then slam their car door and beelines for our office building. I am a little behind them and as I try heading into the building all the doors are locked meaning they have locked every single door…
For context, I live in Australia and I'm looking for a career change since I finished uni. For example, I applied for a job and the contact number is the CEO's mobile number. Any help? Thanks.
Starting a massive general strike?
Just out of curiosity, I'm wondering what it would look like if we all started preparing for a general strike, if you manage to get enough people going on strike for a day then it would really hurt the rich in power, and I know plenty of people would be into it as well. Mainly I'm just wanting to see what everybody thinks about it and how to start planning one? I mean, we have the INTERNET on our side, shouldn't we use this amazing communication technology to change our lives? It would be so amazing to get as many workers as possible to join in. So comment your ideas and thoughts! If you make less than $25 an hour would you be interested in trying to join a nationwide strike?
I was just applying for jobs on indeed. I came across a company called “Teleperformance” i applied, and received a request to go to their website and complete over 2 hours of assessment tests, questions, listening comprehension, speech tests, typing skills etc. ALL before even getting an interview. i have over 10 years of call centre experience. What ever happened to just you know…reading someone's fucking resume and picking up a phone and calling them? i just closed the page, and deleted the e-mail. I am a 36-year-old with more than enough experience to do your shit $13 an hour job, I'm not desperate, and I'm sure as hell not doing 2 hours of free work. is this the norm now? waste people's time with hours of testing just to save 5 minutes doing a phone interview? Or is that the point? make people say fuck it before they even…
I'm familiar with bosses who yell. Like, they are everywhere and they yell for no reason but employees can't cry when they're yelled at?? Otherwise it's “unprofessional”?? Yelling is more unprofessional than crying IMHO eg you have to be provoked to cry but nothing warrants yelling.
So I work as a casual, I'm unsure what the us and UK term for it would be but basically, we aren't guaranteed hours, aren't given sick or personal leave pay, instead we are given a 25% increase on our pays. Usually I have steady work 5 days a week for a few hours a day and for the most part I really enjoy it, I love my job because I get to work by myself while my coworkers do their tasks, Its a job I enjoy and look forward to going to. But the thing is I've had to call in sick and miss work several times. I've had to take a week upto almost two weeks off because of my kidneys getting infected, I'm asymptomatic until it reaches my kidneys which I'm stuck between home, my doctor and the hospital. There's been one or two times I've called…
