My partner Josie moved to Australia from the US just before the plague hit a few years back. After moving out of my parents house, we found a duplex to rent and started the arduous task of finding her a job in a very tight market. After painfully searching for over 6 months, she grabbed a position as a Finance Officer at a company called Monsters Inc. She started her training but something felt off right away. Her co-workers were tasked in training her, but they were extremely busy and didn't have the time to give her the guidance she needed. There were not any proper training materials to reference, not to mention the incredibly outdated and complicated software that was decades old. In her second week at Monsters Inc, one of the other Finance Officers quit with no notice. The work was put onto my partner's desk, and she…
Back in February I tripped and fell on ice messing up my shoulder. The injury happened right before my one year anniversary which caused me to use up almost all my vacation because it takes a full year to get FMLA. March 1st was my anniversary. I was able to take short term disability. I also started taking physical therapy later that month because there was no improvement. My Boyfriend works the same shift and place as I do. My manager asked him today about me. He told her that my physical therapist wants me to take it easy and not push myself right away. She replied there's going to be a third person in deburr. I have to go back to picking parts, lifting 20+ lbs sheet metal and pushing up to 100+ lbs of stacked metal on a table right away, unless I have a lifting restriction. I…
Need some advice.
Not for me, but someone close to me. I watch her bring work home, essentially working overtime but with no pay. She has stayed overnight at the workplace in order to send emails. The business has had some struggle since the pandemic. Her manager, who is new to the building, has her covering what she’s supposed to be doing, on top of the workload my relative already has, essentially working for two. It’s currently 1:30 am and she still awake, working. Has to go to work at 8, which is an hour commute. Said manager has also created a toxic work environment, including favouritism, shifting the blame, and shovelling all her responsibilities onto my relative. The owner of the business is aware of this manager’s attitude, but has bigger concerns that he sees it as petty drama not worth getting involved in. So long as work gets done, he doesn’t…
Just read this article on vice from someone who used to work for (was basically enslaved by) the Kardashian-Jenners. Thought people here might be interested. I worked my ass off for the Kardashian-Jenner app
Title says it all, but even though studies show that making over 70-75k is when most people are content, I can imagine with added inflation and rising prices, that 70k+ bar probably has risen much higher now.
The demand and expectations of jobs is unrealistic to our organic physiology .. repetitive movement with little breaks causing injury to our body. They do not care if you’ve gotten an illness or natural life circumstances get in the way and may impair your work in someway not like they’re not susceptible to the same situations. I just feel so much injustice in these work environments and this hierarchy bullshit thinking that because you’re my boss or supervisor I’m suppose to treat you with a little more respect than I treat others. I treat people as equals , I don’t care about the title behind your name. All people are infallible yet they expect complete perfectionism for little pay and don’t even have the courtesy to try and communicate or aid you in bettering yourself as an employee . I no longer care to put much effort in jobs anymore…
