So I basically got told I'm doing my job wrong even though I'm doing it efficiently. I got some extra rooms to do tonight but I usually get them down within my alloted time. Apparently I can't do that and the yes man of the place wants me to write/stay for an extra hour. Do I just go “fuck it.” And not stay the extra hour? Or do I stay the extra hour doing butt fuck nothing?
Just an example of this wonderful job market right now: I went into open interviews at Mann+ Hummel a couple of weeks ago and got turned away because I worked there previously. I was told that HR would reach out to me. HR never reached out to me. I received an email today that is generic in nature asking me to come to the same open interview to be interviewed. I will not be doing that. I will get turned away. The job market is a joke right now. Also, I got there first thing in the morning and said in line for 45 minutes just for them to walk through the line asking who had worked there previously. I am so tired of this crap.

Heyo, Little backstory, I (20f) work at an Adult Video store (selling porn DVDs and toys) it's a fun job to be honest. Very laid back, chill employees, not too hard of work, always meeting interesting people. Well, the first red flag is that I caught them paying me under minimum wage. The minimum wage in my state is 14.49, they were paying me and another worker under that (14.00). I brought it up to the manager and she argued with me about it. She looked in up, saw that I was right and nothing happened until I brought it up again, to which she said it would be fixed eventually. Nothing happened. I then asked again, and made sure to ask if I was getting back pay, eventually I got it. The other thing is that there is a 60-90 say probationary period, every manager has a different idea…
I lost my job.
I work in California and I occasionally get scheduled for 5 hours. My understanding, and what I’ve read, is that you get a meal break if you work 5 or more hours. Whenever I get these shifts, I bring it up to any one of my managers that are working and ask if I can take a break. They always say, “No, just clock out 10/15 minutes early.” I’d usually have no problem with that, but since these are closing shifts, I am stuck in the store until the manager is done with their duties and opens the doors for the other closing employees to leave. So I’m still there for 5 hours. Is this legal? I know this is not a lawyer based sub, but some of you may know better than me. Thank you for taking your time to read this. This post is mainly just to get…
Secretly being micromanaged
Let me start back from a few months ago. I work in marketing (mid/entry level) at a home healthcare company and I left back in December of 2021. I was being underpaid and overworked and left the company on good terms “just in case” the new job didn’t work out. I started doing marketing for a mortgage company and after 2 months quickly realized it was a very toxic environment. I went to my boss at the healthcare company and told them what was happening and that I was interested in coming back part time and that I was in the process of getting my real estate license; and that I was planning on doing the mornings and early afternoons there, and working in real estate nights and weekends. Because I left things on good terms, my old boss welcomed me back with open arms and appreciated me being honest…
