Red Letter days are insulting.

Like the title says.. while management get monetary bonuses they think people will be happy with a balloon ride or a go in a fast car. Feels like they're just calling people peasants. I literally get called ungrateful because I want money like they do.

Why promote you? You are already doing the job for free! …then it gets worse…

In my last office job I was being asked to complete not only my own work but also the work of a frankly incompetent team lead as well as additional duties including training others and basic supervision of new staff on top of my actual IT job. I had only picked up this job after cancer and a divorce led me to have to leave a pretty decent management level position, that due to ill health combined with having to move and basically restart my life, I simply couldn't continue, so I was seeking a basic 9-5 in a TL position. At interview, I was promised that within 6 months I would be leading my own team based purely on prior experience and my over qualification for the base position… … They lied… I technically started at 8:30 and ended at 5:30, for four full years I was in at…

Minimum wage is soul sucking

I (F19) used to work two jobs until I quit one of them last month and it was one of the best decisions I've ever made. I only got paid $10 an hour (used to be 9 but it increased to 10 in my last 3 months there) and I still never made anything. I'm lucky enough to not have to pay any bills since I still live with my parents so its not like I desperately needed the money, but a lot of my coworkers there did. Management was shit and so were the customers. I would be anxious for work everyday and usually hated being there. Only part I liked were goofing off with my coworkers (which wasn't too much). I used to work sorta hard there but after joining this sub, I realized I shouldn't be working to their high standards anymore. So, I spent most of…

First day back at the office…

We're 4 art directors. One moved 2 hrs away, so he's not coming back. My boss has a short commute, so he comes very frequently. The other one has kids, so he prefers to come to the office. I live an hr away aprox. and don't want to come to the office, but they want us at least 1 day… So my boss says to me last week, when are coming to the office… can you come Tuesday?… As there are a couple new projects, I'm ok, so we can talk about them in person,… Well, I'm all alone at the office. None of them came today… On a zoom meeting boss says “Oh, you went to the office today…” If they didn't pay me good money to do almost nothing, I'd be looking for something else… at least I'm meeting a friend for dinner…

$11 an hour with no experience, and up to $14 with two years of experience. And these folks of course are part of the “why doesn’t anybody want to work” discourse

Honestly America has enough people to go around for employment

r/tumblr posted about medieval peasants having 150 days of work a year because their happiness was important although idk if their calendars also had 364 days like us Anyways, imagine if we had 150 days maximum a year with a minimum annual wage and salary of $76,800-$96k. Big companies like at&t, amazon, walmart, and global fast food chains or any global chain could afford paying for such services since they can already afford politicians and millionaires and billionaires doing squat. Also the 150 Days would force work hours to be spread out along with shifts so the work wouldnt be compressed so tightly. The increased minimum wage would also stringly encourage high quality workers to join the force, and we probably already do have some. the minimum and maximum ages to work need some fine tuning tho. And fuck generational wealth. Thats just soft language for a bigass treasure chest.
