I really jumped out of the frying pan and into the fire. I was at my last job for three years, and after I got back from taking a month long medical leave (FMLA approved and everything) my boss and coworkers got increasingly hostile. I was desperate to leave that toxic environment so I took the first job that I was offered, a remote 18 month contract that sounded wonderful. Well, surprise, it’s not. I’m two months in, there was NO training (asides from the automated online ones that don’t teach you anything about your actual job), they expect me to train 10 new hires when I have 6 weeks of experience, and my new boss criticizes EVERYTHING I do. She expects me to know everything she does and have the answers to every email that comes our way, and gets angry when I ask questions. She says she doesn’t…
My New Employer Lied in the Interview
My new employer promised me flexible work hours during the interview. This week was my first week and I asked her about working hours and referenced our interview but she said that the hours are pre-set and I have to follow them. I'm from Canada if that matters. I'm so mad and needed to vent. I left a toxic workplace to an apparently other toxic one.
Posted in r/news thought y’all might find it interesting too. Exploited worker exploited more so she decided to quit effectively shutting down the small town in Maine. A tip of the the hat to her.https://www.breezyscroll.com/world/entire-maine-town-forced-to-shut-after-its-only-clerk-quits-over-denied-vacation/
Got asked to work unpaid today
My boss doesn’t even look at my time card. It’s some administrative assistant that approves them. I have the ability to type in my time in and out for my role but I put my true time in and out. I’m hourly and if I’m having to participate In this capitalistic hell hole, I’m getting paid for every minute. And this chick has the guts to ask me today to edit my time so I didn’t get overtime this week
FML…A Papers
So, I just got fired after spending the last few days asking 3 people above me for my FMLA paperwork I recently qualified for. I’m epileptic and I had a seizure on the 7th at work and it took me down until I started back Monday. They fired me for “tardiness” without any talking to or a write up (ever) and wrote up my equally tardy coworker yesterday after assuring them that their job is secure. I’m more annoyed with the fact that they ghosted me, so I couldn’t get the government paperwork that would’ve protected me starting 5 days ago. My doctor has been asking for it.
This has always grinded my gears, and it’s totally unfair. What grown adult in their 30s remembers the name and number of their shitty boss they had at 16? How thorough of a background check do you need for a 15 dollar an hour job…? Idk I’m ranting
