layed off, how do I tell my coworkers?
Feeling a bit at a loss, I feel too anxious to bring it up. Next week is my last week, and my coworkers depend on me as an admin, but it's not really my fault that I'm going to be out of their lives. My coworkers are all older ladies, a couple are immigrants, and I've worked with them for a year and a half. I feel some sort of obligation to tell them, but I'm also anxious about bringing it up. They're all really nice people, but we aren't close by any means I'm trying to find an easy way out god I hate social obligation, the INFP in me just wishes my manager would have told everyone and I wouldn't have to stress about it, and my social anxiety really wants to avoid having to put myself on the spot. Honestly though, it would be funny if I…
You have covid? Who cares!
I work in an emergency room and my boss wants me to come into work when I probably have Covid. I have every covid symptom. I told him I can’t eat sleep or walk and will probably have to go to the hospital tomorrow and he says I’m “subject to attendance occurrences according to the attendance policy” LOL what a guy. I missed maybe 3 shifts in 10 months. This isn’t even the first time he’s done this.. I’m trying to go PRN so I choose when I work and he’s going to either delay that by a month or entirely block it because I didn’t come into work with covid.
I know that I don’t really need this job because I can freelance and am already networking for a way out. My co- worker does criticize management and seems to dislike the micro managing in the office. But at the same time she seems much more invested in the company than me. She is also not a citizen in the country so that’s another country. I know the company doesn’t pay us enough nor treat us with enough respect for me to care. Today I legit got nothing to do and that co- worker for whatever reason does not like seeing me slack off. She got antsy and agitated and suggested stuff for me to do on a Friday at 3:30pm when other ppl left early. I straight up told her it could wait till Monday or later and “ I don’t care “ and I’m leaving early. Boy she…
Town forced to close after clerk quits
Union buster says what?
HR is not your friend! HR only protects Company interests and sees you as a RESOURCE, not an individual.. This is Capitalism… you are just a RESOURCE if you are not an OWNER.. You either suck it up, or change job.. Cheers!
Starbucks partners on strike!
Starbucks Baristas in South Carolina are on strike to protest unfair treatment from the company that was in response to partners unionizing. Spread the word if you can. They have a GoFundMe up for anyone who would like to donate, any amount helps as being on strike and not working does have a financial impact. https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-us-pay-our-bills-while-on-strike?sharetype=teams&member=19448891&utm_medium=social&utm_source=instagram&utm_campaign=p_na+share-sheet Articles covering it. https://www.thestate.com/news/business/article261636882.html https://wach.com/news/local/columbia-starbucks-workers-on-strike
Friend had to cover the missing money
Hey guys, I saw a similar post to this one the other day, but I can't find it now. Basically, as the title says, a friend of mine was forced to pay up from her own money when there was some cash missing from the cash register. If I'm not mistaken, that's kindaaa illegal to ask of a employee, so I would appreciate some advice I can share with her, what can she do in this situation? She lives in NYC, if that helps. If the post I mentioned sounds familiar to anyone, you could also link to it.
