So I've been applying to over a dozen jobs now in my area and haven't been called for a SINGLE INTERVIEW! Some background: mechanical engineer with 5 years experience in a DoD manufacturing environment. I'm getting really tired of working 10+ hour days and getting shit raises while a new guy with 1 year experience comes in getting paid more than me. I know there's plenty worse things going on but not even getting calls about open positions I'm generally qualified for or even over qualified. I've seen so many posts about “nobody wants to work” and thought it would be pretty easy to at least get called back. But I've been applying for 3 months or so and gotten nothing back. Stockholm syndrome strikes again
Atleast it is for the company I work for, if you dare to be sick more then twice a year first of all you risk being fired and second of all the first day of being sick you will need to pay with your days off 'salary' so in the Netherlands you get 25 paid days off but if you have been sick twice that year and become sick again the first day will cost you one holiday day. Isn't that just crazy? If this happens I always take 2 or 3 weeks off. You take one holiday day from me for being sick? I take 3 weeks from you.. fuck you bossman!

Like imagine if bosses could have a get out of jail free card for ever having to pay for work accidents for people who drink alcohol outside of work– because it's practically the same, if not worse. I don't do that shit before work. On the clock. None of that. I very obviously was sober when I cut myself while working, but none of that matters. It's just a loophole that some rich franchise owners are exploiting, and there's nothing I can do about it.…
