You know, normally, when you see a minimum wage job offering insurance, you would figure for 15/h, below the poverty line, they could spare 40 a month per worker who qualifies. But.. no. Let's take this money from your paycheck, and use YOUR money, to pay for a “benefit” of working at our establishment. You live with one other adult who doesn't work? You have to take care of them too? 18% tax on your paycheck when you make 15/h. Then we will give you “benefits,” by using YOUR money to thank you with insurance. Of course.
I got promoted to manager of my department at my new workplace. I tend to move up pretty quickly in any job due to 'my initiative to learn and do better' and my 'natural leadership skills' but I'm so tired of just being a cog in the machine. Any work environment I've been in has just made me unhappy. I'm already struggling as is but just having to wake up, go in, deal with the same thing every damn day… it's getting to me. I want to quit and take time off from working before finding another job, but I know I have student loans to pay off and way too many bills to do anything other than work. I'd love to just have a break to care for my mental health but that's not acceptable… (':
So I joined a new job last month and I am already getting new offers. I am telling them that I will quit this one if they pay me atleast 50% more. I feel quite conflicted here if it's okay to a job this quick for money.
What is the best way to skip work

Blue collar Work
I work in a smelter plant. We melt & cast aluminum. Anyways i make a good living off of it. 90-100k a year. I just cant find happiness in working here the rest of my life. The work is not my problem its the time off. I never know if my day off will be a day off until the Thursday before. An i cant plan anything. It is depressing i work as much as i do i almost just want to live a hippie life but i know i have ppl to depend on me.
This is specific to Los Angeles politics, but I think it fits here. For those not familiar, he's a billionaire real estate developer running for mayor. If he gets 50%+ of the primary vote he will automatically become mayor with no further elections held. This is why he has spent $23 million on his own primary campaign. Among other things, he owns a $100 million mega yacht and The Grove, an upscale outdoor mall and tourist spot complete with its own trolley that goes about 1/8th of a mile and a mini Bellagio style fountain. The reason I'm posting this here is because years ago I used to work retail at The Grove. I made $8.50 an hour. Caruso charged the stores exorbitant rent and then ~extracted more value~ by charging employees to park, which was $12/day. You could park for 3 hours for free. Some people timed their breaks…
What kind of shit is that?? No amount of pay and benefits are going to keep my body from getting heat stroke in the summer months, no amount of pay and benefits will keep me from fainting due to the overwhelming heat. Warehouse work is already hard as hell! Why contribute to that? What an inhumane, sadistic work environment. First company I'm referring to has a joke of a union already and rhymes with Shoo Pee Less Molivery. My body was shutting down by the first hour. Second warehouse I just interviewed for with 'great benefits' rhymes with Tee Nee Mess Narmacutical. What the fruck is up with this practice?
