If you're not tracking, on paper, who requested what time off and when, your schedule system is not auditable and you cannot prove nepotism or favoritism easily. If you are tracking time off notifications on paper you have a formal paper trail. Not tracking this shit benefits abuse of the time off system. Don't say “it doesn't need paperwork”, because that paperwork is your best friend in a lawsuit. Workers should push for consistent documentation of decisions like this. Systems which cannot be audited to say exactly who requested what and when are bad systems.

Due to “slow down in business”. Effective immediately. They are paying my hours worked this pay period, and paying out my PTO. Benefits will end June 1. They put me through some transition periods in their business and I put up with all of it cause the money was so much better than what I was doing. But as much as they wanted to invest in my development, and put me on track to grow and move up in the company, it’s all for nothing. Even last week my manager said “I adore you. You have a job forever.” I am so sick of living in a place where because I lost my job I’m under the threat of going bankrupt due to a medical emergency. I’m sick to my stomach and haven’t stopped crying. I have no clue what I’m going to do.

Not sure if this is the right sub. I got injured on the job, and I contacted my manager an hour after it happened because said part was still throbbing. My manager told me to go to the ER. Me, not wanting an ER bill, refused and let them know I did not want to risk the charges. I continued working, and they called me back shortly to let me know workers comp would cover it. In the ER, I let the admissions person know this was for an employee injury, and they all knew I was an employee, since I worked at the hospital (past tense because I quit). Doc said nothing was fractured, I checked with him making sure it would fall under workers comp, and I was on my way. Well I received a bill from the hospital anyways. I have two part time jobs. One of those jobs I work two 8.5 hour shifts (get off around 5:15) which is what I agreed to when I got hired. Today I get a text from my boss informing me she’s extending my shifts one hour making me get off around 6. No “is this okay” no “do you have prior commitments?” Nothing. Just “you start this week.” I actually DO have prior commitments (exercise classes that I’ve already payed for) and I just feel like her texting me this and not talking to me in person was extremely disrespectful of me and my time. I also just have no interest working over 9 hours at a job that’s extremely boring and I barely get a break.

But fuck that place they treated me like shit.

Changing my schedule last minute, forced to work unscheduled overtime. Why does my life have to revolve around my job? Why do I have to change all of my appointments because they can’t figure out staffing?
