That moment when your manager promotes someone to supervisor who’s worked 3 months and does nothing, and you’ve worked 8 and do everything…

It truly sucks when I see people around me get promoted to the supervisor position. It only pays $2 more, but it looks good on paper and has an awesome position title. I’m still the same position that I’ve been hired as, even though I’ve had other managers tell me I’m doing a great job and that I should be promoted. My manager isn’t great at managing whatsoever, and she purposely chooses not to promote me. I feel like she doesn’t want to promote me, because I do too good of a job, and I won’t be as “pinned” down to certain duties as I currently am. She also has favourites, and she picks who she wants as supervisor (instead of seeing the bigger picture of who actually has most experience and does the work)… she promoted someone who stands around and does nothing, all because she gets along very…

My car died. I live 30 mins away from work and was only supposed to be there for 3 hours today. My new manager’s response has me in shock…. she wants me to PAY to go to work. this had got to be some sort of joke. it’s taking everything in me to not quit right now.

Can you be antiwork but not anti-capitalism?

Overall I think this community is great, but I have been seeing some bizarre takes here recently. Specifically, some people don't seem to think capitalism is a problem. To me it makes no sense to be antiwork but not also anti-capitalist. Capitalism relies on our work. It coerces our work. You can never be free from work in a capitalist system. All of the shitty jobs and horrible managers that people post about here, all come about because of capitalism. You cannot divorce work from the system we operate under. The logic of capitalism is simple, firms must maximise profits at all cost. Such a system is not compatible with any form of decent working conditions, let alone abolishing work completely. The problems of work are directly created by capitalism. Am I wrong here? Can you be pro-capitalism but also antiwork?

Work eat sleep repeat.

Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. It’s the cycle of the American dream. Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. Work eat sleep repeat. Anyone who objects is ungrateful. Your problems are not valid. There is no time for your depression, there is work to be done, deadlines to be met. “It’s not about the money” your boss says as he drives away in his Cadillac. Your rent just went up and you can no longer afford to eat. Work sleep repeat. Work sleep repeat. Work sleep repeat. Work sleep repeat. Work sleep repeat. Work sleep repeat. Work sleep repeat. Work sleep repeat.…
