I hate the job and I’m leaving next week

So I haven't posted here before but I just wanna let people know that it's okay to leave when you've had enough. Im a 23 yr old designer who worked at an engineering firm as a cad designer and really fell out of love for the work. Part of that is due to me wanting to have a more normal work-life balance and the other because management is incompetent and leaves no time to complete work which left everyone stressed & depressed including me. I the remote/office work really really wasn't for me and I really thought long nights about this new career path since I'm also looking to go back to school for my electrical engineering degree. If you were treated well, how much would you slack off?

By “treated well,” define that however you like. For me it would be fair pay (equal to the value I bring to the business), health benefits, pension, generous PTO, etc. etc. I was wondering about this because I am not a slacker–I kind of hate downtime. I don't enjoy browsing my phone, and I'd rather be doing something productive than nothing. I can't just sit still and chill (disclaimer: I have ADHD, lol) I don't currently have a full-time job–I work 8 hours a week at a small shop for 10/hour. Yeah, i know it sucks but lots of times I get paid more than the shop brings in, and I like the owner, so it's fine for now. But there is LOTS of downtime, which I hate. I'd like to be doing things. Hi all, I need some advice on my current situation. My background: -26 Years old -Advanced Diploma in Business Admin -Bachelors of Business Admin with specialization in Accounting. – Prior internship experience working as an analyst (1 year) My story: I work for a small/mid sized manufacturing company in a niche market. I was hired back in August by the owner, the terms of the role were a little vague but to generalize I was told I would be across various accounting functions and getting good experience, so I accepted the below market wage at $20/h (Ontario,Canada). The MD was so egotistical he couldn’t handle a meeting adjustment

During the first UK lockdown I started a new job, which meant I worked remotely. During my first couple of months I attended a classic 'meet the MD' call with 5 or 6 other people. Simple. 18 months later we were back to the office part time and for some unknown reason the MD wanted to rehost these meetings but face to face. He had dozens lined up in his diary to get through the backlog of remote new starters, in groups of 12-15. I was invited to attend one of these meetings, but kindly asked his PA if I could amend my date as I wasn't able to be in the office for that day, for personal reasons (I couldn't get a dog sitter/walker scheduled in time, and I refuse to leave her for 10+ hours of the day alone) but I didn't go into that detail, as I…

Theft, pure and simple

I have always had a strong work ethic. I started working IT for a major company last year. We work in seasons. They lay us off two months per year, so they don't have to offer us benefits. The very first thing that they did to me, was lie about my starting wage. How can you start off a decent working relationship, when the very first thing that you do, is lie to me about my wage? I called them on it and they claimed that the recruiting manager, “made a mistake,” and they stuck to the lower amount. Reluctantly, I still accepted the offer. Many lies followed after that, too. I've always been the first out of my team to complete my work, complete any given learning assignments, and install new equipment. I Just Don’t Care

I have been slacking off at work for months now. Like, maybe doing a couple of hours of work for every day that I'm here. I'm exhausted. The last time I had time off work, it was because I had COVID. I've been working 55 hours a week for 2 years without ever getting paid for overtime. I know that I should care, that this job is how I survive, I spend about 50% of my waking hours here, and I actually like what I do most of the time. I just… don't care. I wait. I wait for 5:30 to roll around so I can go home and have 2 hours to do what I need to do. I wait for the weekend to roll around so I can make some kind of a life out of 2 days, and to catch up on sleep. I just. Don't. Care.

NYC Salary Transparency Law in Question as Businesses Push Back (msn.com) New York City had set May 15 as the deadline for every job posting to list the minimum and maximum salary for each position. The rule applies to jobs that are remote or in-person, salaried or hourly, that will be performed in the city by an employee working for a company with four or more employees. In an hours-long meeting on Tuesday, the Council Committee on Civil and Human Rights discussed an amendment that would exempt companies with fewer than 15 employees, exclude certain positions and move the effective date to Nov. 1. The changes would also allow businesses to post general “help wanted” listings, without a specific role, and not include salary information.
