So why do they hate workers working from home?
Help: Salary Negotiation
I’ve worked at my job for nearly a year now. My salary is around 82k a year with a 3k bonus which I will not get if I leave now. I currently work in risk & advisory (tech audit, ITGC testing) at a B4 firm based in Los Angeles, California. I did a phone screen with a recruiter last week and their initial range that they stated for base compensation was around 85k-95k with around 20k RSU in the first year. From my research and talking to friends in tech, they let me know that it was low for a tech firm. The recruiter mentioned last week that there was very little wiggle room. My target base salary is 120k a year. My questions are: Is proposing 140k a year and that I am open to negotiate hoping we meet at 120k a bad strategy or should I try another…
I just asked them what is the hotel name as I did not remember applying to “Hotels network” https://preview.redd.it/sy2q3tfct0z81.png?width=1303&format=png&auto=webp&s=bef55d942d0fb8ab6b5d01b0cb5aa1ec73c629eb
UK vs USA work
Okay,. maybe not entirely antiwork, but this is the best place I've found to ask. I live and work in Scotland, UK. Despite people complaining about this country, I know it's still pretty decent. I have a living wage, chill out work, 32 days of holidays and free health care. But I'm thinking about relocating to the USA. But as any European heard, USA is apparently not a good place to work by European or British standards. I don't know. Anyone has experience from USA and Europe and can compare what's better in terms of work? Is USA that bad regarding work?
This is what I’ve been seeing and saying
They don’t want to pay what we’re worth while crying and shortages. I call bullshit https://www.marketwatch.com/story/fed-official-doesnt-really-buy-the-great-resignation-suggests-businesses-play-up-worker-shortages-to-avoid-paying-higher-wages-11652117795
Hi all! Long time lurker, first time poster here 🙂 I quit a very toxic company a month ago (tons of gossip and politics, my former manager suddenly got fired, asshole manager replaced him, etc.) and now I am about to start a new corporate job. I hope for the best but wouldn't be surprised to have a few assholes to deal with in my new job as well. So, now I am wondering how to best start off and protect myself against any possible problems with colleagues or management. I've read a lot here about carefully documenting (journaling) your work and progress to have in case someone questions your performance, so I am definitely thinking about doing that. However, some days I will be working in the office and a lot of tasks will be handed to me during quick meetings with my boss/colleagues and there might not be…
Manager pushing overtime
Hello people. My manager is pushing overtime hard and don't care if it's to difficult for workers. I have 24 hour contract also my contract say “You may be required to work additional hours” and “Due to the nature of our business flexibility is required in respect of your hours of work eatch day and we may need to fluctuate your hours up or down” And now I will be working more than 40 hours on night shift a week. So my question is : Do I absolutely have to work them extra hours or I can tell my manager to go f*** him self and not do extra hours ?
So well this guy was a manager but he out in his 2 weeks and actually got a normal non management job somewhere cause he didn’t like it. Idk he wasn’t a fan of work and shit on it a lot so I kind felt like he was legit and on the workers side (and we had some shared interests (Star Wars and Lego sets and shit) maybe to some degree he was or he thought he was. I thought on it and I realized that he kind of played the role of a friend when he actually had a lot of shitty things he said about my “work ethic” and shit behind my back (though I will say the whole “work ethic” shit got in my head to after awhile of working at that place been a month since I left and it’s brought me alot of clarity) Beyond…
This new woman, we'll call her Karen, just started a week and a half ago. My only interaction with her was when she asked my name and wrote down my physical description. We only have 8 people in the office! Not that hard to remember. She never sat down with any of us. But she sends out emails all day, criticizing our work, asking us to do more stupid little things, even when we're really busy with customers. She came from a similar background (which I found out by Google stalking not that she ever introduced herself) but none of us thinks she knows what we even do much less how to do any of it herself. My coworkers were upset and joking about quitting all day but then one more email came through and my closest team member got really quiet. At that point I went to sit down…
