I'm giving my notice Monday. I'm scared, I'm nervous, and quite frankly I feel guilty for leaving. The final straw was 2 weeks ago. I've checked out mentally. I might have something concrete lined up, I hope it pans out. Wish me luck!
The system works, just not for me
We love employees, the hardcore way.
saw this on facebook today
I'm only six weeks pregnant, and have horrible pregnancy symptoms ALREADY. I work for the state in an office and my boss is requiring me to have a doctor's note for three hours tomorrow. I have accured sick leave I've earned but if I don't get a note, I will get a leave without pay plus it not being approved. I truly don't need to go to the doctor and waste their time. Plus spending money and driving thirty minutes one way to sit and wait for a note seems so ridiculous to me. I also have not told anyone at work I am pregnant as I don't want or need them to know. I hate it here.
Pretty much the title. I worked for a job for 3 years and made (i did the video editing, copy, CTAs, everything) for a bunch of ads for a smallish company (that performed extremely well) that they are still running. Obviously, thats fine and allowed, just feels bad. They treated me like shit and whenever i see them on the internet i feel super angry. Hope this is a thread where we can commiserate on old jobs coming up in our lives and letting out some anger. Not in a negative way, but in a positive one so we can move on to bigger and better things. Xx
stockholm syndrome or what??
I think a subtle shift in language could help shift people's understanding of our lot. I know half of us would rather not work at all but in the meantime…. it could be useful to shift kind of back to speaking about whether or not employment is gainful. We are “seeking gainful employment” or “gainful work.” Obviously not everyone can afford to just not work but we need to try to take back the notion that employment isn't worthwhile unless it can be considered gainful. There is so much debate around “minimum wage” and a “living wage.” It's all about the bare minimum. In the meantime they act like offering any employment at all is an opportunity even if it sucks. It's right up the alley of responding to “nobody wants to work.” I feel kind of late to the party. But along that line of thinking. We don't want…
