I work at a prominent North American university and I hold a position outside of academia so my role is subject to a lot of criticism and turnover. For my first 6 years I've struggled with my position often facing budget cuts, restructuring, and have been criticized both personally (for my clothes and out of work interests) and for my professional decisions. I felt discouraged & hated in what was supposed to be my forever home. It really took it's toll both psychologically and emotionally. This year by luck and just things working out I've been able to produce amazing results (I don't even understand how) but I was able to impress everyone and even used this new found appreciation to flirt with other similar positions and guess what? I managed to get offered a new 5 year (guaranteed) contract and now my plan is to do as little as…
Mercy housing is a shit company
I left their company only 2 weeks ago after being theeatened by my “supervisor ” who came to the property while supposed to be on medical leave to physically threaten me. I was a maintenance technician for their property and lemme tell you. They let my supervisor sexual harras single mothers living there (low income units). Fired his previous tech when she complained about sexual harrasment and him sleeping on the job. NEVER even followed up with me or any of the 3 women who reported sexual harassment from him. I quit and was owed 25hrs of PTO. 24hrs of covid test pay. 200 (8 months worth) of stipends and more. Company wont pay their vendors or their employees and have no problem with allowing single women to be harrased. Ive started contacting lawyers https://www.indeed.com/m/viewjob?jk=429f70ecbbe15ed4&from=serp&prevUrl=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.indeed.com%2Fm%2Fjobs%3Fq%3DMercy%2520housing%26l%3DKaysville%252C%2520UT Heres the job posting for my empty position if you need a place that doesnt…
My Employer Is About To Drug Test Me
And Yea… I smoke weed — On my leisurely time, it helps a lot with my anxiety. The reason this whole ordeal came about is because apparently I use the bathroom too much and they’ve been notified i’m possibly vaping in there which is absolutely FALSE. Ive been on a weight gain journey so i’ve been eating and drinking a lot as i’m severely underweight — So i tend to use the bathroom on average 3 times a day. I’ve never come into work high, I don’t smoke on the job, I’m excellent with my patients and I strive to go above and beyond to create the best environment for them. I’m a great worker… But i know if they drug test me it’s over. I just feel so defeated, this is the longest job i’ve kept so it started to feel like a personal achievement— I feel like i’m…
I work for one of the biggest banks in the country as a QA Tester with 18 years testing and analyzing experience. I’ve been here 9 years and have been 100% remote for 7 of them. Never been written up or asked for much, just kept my head down and worked. I was recently told that in a month I’ll be expected to be in office from now on after being told the new policies wouldn’t apply to me since I was remote before the pandemic. In the last 4 years my pay has increased .54 an hour and this year I wasn’t even given an increase. I didn’t complain tho! Just happy to have a job I liked that allowed me, a single mom if 3 under 11, to be able to avoid daycare costs, feed my kids, and live in a decent neighborhood. To be fair, I should…
Who works for money?

Ghosting my terrible job
I'm 15 minutes away from ghosting an employer for the first time. I was lied to about my job duties. Sworn at by my manager regularly. Treated badly by fellow employees. Blamed for mistakes that had nothing to do with my job duties. I'm ready for a little time off. I feel bad for the person that gets hired in my place.
A very real consequence of bad management is workplace sabotage. I know someone who was stuck in a job with terrible mgmt and coworkers they hated and would purposely break or “lose” vital equipment and information nearly every week without anyone knowing it was them. It drove people insane and jobs were lost and no one ever knew I'm sure some people can relate?
Wife “terminated” on maternity leave
My wife went on maternity leave in September of 2020 is due to go back to work the first week of March of this year. We’re in Canada, we have the choice of 12 or 18 months off, both equal same amount paid out, just stretched out further if you choose 18 months. My wife chose 18 months to have a longer time at home with our son. Just yesterday she got a phone call from her district manager telling her they have “restructured” the store and her position was “abolished” She was an assistant manager, they had two assistant managers when my wife was there, the second one stepped down after my wife was off on leave and they hired someone new, the person that was hired in my wife’s place ended up quitting and they didn’t hire anyone else to replace her. They are letting the other replacement…
My job is basically a productivity role. We have to have X number of calls processed per hour everyday. Example: 10 per hour etc. However, if we meet a certain threshold say 7 per hour we don’t get in trouble, but if it’s below 7per hour we have to have a mandatory counseling on how to increase our numbers to get up to 10pts hour. Here’s the thing…if I stay above 7 there’s no reason for me to try for 10 an hour. I don’t get reprimanded for it. Yet even when I’m above 7 they still say they’d like me to shoot for 10 an hour. But there’s no benefit. I don’t get paid more to do more. I don’t get special recognition or anything. I don’t see the point in trying harder.
